This is my setup. I've followed the plan here a few times when I lived closer to surf: http://www.rodndtube.com/surf/info/surf ... Rack.shtml

The board rack on the side works great but I think a trailer would be better for the kite. As it is it sits pretty high up and can feel unstable at times.

I think a used child trailer/stroller would be the optimal way to carry the kite bag.

I just use two Ortlieb bike bags. The kite goes into one and the harness around it. The board, wetsuit and other stuff into the other. Works great!

The Ortlieb Back Roller Classic I am using are big enough. They fit perfectly. And the board sits really fixed in the bag, because of the other stuff in there. No wobbling.

Burley makes some nice looking bike cargo trailers. Here’s a picture of a new one they have, and their Coho model which is also narrow but more capacity.
