The foam should not be too soft.
What about using those plastic skateboard grab rails? Just cut to length, glue/tape them down, and go. They have a nice thumb/finger grove on one side for a secure grab. :thumb:

While looking for a good pic, I found a company that makes a foam version of what I'm taking about. Even though it says "skate rails", they market it to snowboarders to use as a grab rail for one-footed tricks
https://crabgrab.com/products/skate-rails

Also check their Grab Rails

For some plastic ones, here's a really good example

Don't use the skate ones they go under your board and help not only grab but also for you sliding on a curb grind really hard plastic and very slippery. Very old school. Never seen those snowboard rails before tho maybe someone should buy a set and report back. Hard foam is what you want so it's easy to grab when your fingers are wet but not too soft.

Doesn't look good.

Foot pad still better. This one can eat your fingernails...

I used to just cut a couple long straight strips out of one of those cheap interlocking foam mats and glue them down following the outline shape with contact cement.

But that was a long time ago.

    Oh yeah.... These Grab Rails rocks. We sold out few weeks ago and had to make more. They are suppose to be in this Thursday.
They are Stick On Grab Rails. So no need of glue, just peel and stick. But make sure to clean your board really well before sticking the Grab Rail on :thumb:
