Twintip repair - Shinn Bronq

Postby canyagimmealaunch » Wed Sep 16, 2020 10:16 pm

Hi,

I did hit something (a rock or reef) on the water at full speed in 30 knts. I got a Shinn Bronq and it seems that the coating is a plastic. I am planning to repair this the same way i repaired my previous board (fiber glass + epoxy coating)

Since the dammage is in a location who will flex, what kind of epoxy kdo you recommand ? What kind of repair do you recommand ?

See photos below.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Trim and sand down and away so your damaged layer is beveled. Re-fiberglass, then sand down flat with the original layers. Should be able to find a good how to vid on youtube if you look.

I would cut the damaged Ptex layer off with a very sharp knife, sand the edges down. Buy a Ptex repair candle stick, melt the Ptex on, once it's set give it a slight sand again. The damage is only to the Ptex layer and not structural.

^^^^ What he said.

Looks fine from the photos. Should repair nicely though it won't be cosmetically perfect any more.
