Last weekend we were almost 50/50 on the water for awhile.

Strangely enough the most male dominated place I have ever kited was in Brazil. Hardly saw a single girl/woman kiting.
When did you go last time?
More or less exactly 1 year ago.

In Jeri I kited with one girl (she worked at one of the kiteshops). Probably saw some others as well in Prea etc. without thinking about it. In Cumbuco I honestly cannot remember a single girl/woman. Obviously there had to be some in Cumbuco considering the size of the place, but... I don't think I got launched or landed by any and neither did I launch or land any (I usually launch and land a lot since I don't mind while watching people kite).

Kind of sad thinking about it. For the whole trip I had conversations with one female kiter. That is definitely a record

Yes, here locally as well. Quite often couples in there mid twenties to thirties. The first generation of kiters (which I belong to, getting old(er)... ) is mostly male.

Next time in Brazil pay attention...you will see lots. And they are as crazy as men...kiting every day they can...doing huge downwinders. Parking two cars etc.

Really fun talking to them and hear the same stoke.

It’s brilliant to know. Encouraging for next gen.
I want my daughter to join me on my sessions.
More sessions!

In Brazil I noticed so many female kiters.
Never saw as many as this year, that’s awesome.

I wonder if this is a phenomenon in Brazil only, or do you see more on your local beaches as well ?
At my local beach/surfclub it is 60-40 mix know men and girls i think it also comes from the pandemic some of the pro kite girls are stuck in their home country doing kite girls trips and clinics at home so getting more local girls in too the sport

Cut a toe badly yesterday on the foil. Went to the hospital. Young, suntanned lady was the doctor on duty, looking at my flip flops asked me if those were the ones with the bottle opener :D (Reef Fanning sandals). Told her it happened while foiling. She was a kiter as well, also foiling. She stitched my toe up while we were having a good chat about kiting and our favourite spots  She is always wearing shoes when foiling (and helmet)...
