Yes also GPS, And the watch auto locks for you!
Do you mean Open Water Swim? I don’t see any “Open Water” to add.

Water sports available seem to be:
-open water swim
-pool swim
-rowing
-sailing
-surfing
-water fitness
-water polo
-water sports

Of those, only open water swim seems to include distance, which I assume means GPS. Even sailing and surfing don’t have distance, which seems dumb.
Strange, i indeed got the open water Swim bit also just an ''Open water'' including GPS..

@Vinda, buy a velcro strap like on my picture, i've used it about a hundred times and still have it, it cannot come off completely.
Weird. I wish I had that!

I just got the new braided solo loop a couple days ago. It seems great. It is plenty flexible, but it would have to get hooked on something to rip off my wrist. It would be a pretty crazy scenario to come off just with an impact on the water. I also tried to the solo loop and it should be equally good.

I tried the open water swim.
It tracks with the GPS nicely, but there is one very annoying part for me to it.
It keeps asking to stop or pause the activity, because I'm not actually swimming.
And it's funny how it seems to track the different swimming styles I'm doing, while not swimming :D

Does it actually stop tracking or is it just an annoying pop up? Can you turn off auto pause as a feature?

Is your watch locked when swimming?

It kept tracking the whole time, it's just sometimes annoys you with the question if you want to stop/pause.
I don't know if it can be turned off as a feature, I actually like the feature. It's just annoying here because I'm using the wrong activity.

I'm not sure if the watch is locked, I only did one kite session with it so far and I think I did something wrong, so I had to do the water lock manually.
But I'd assume it automatically does the water lock, since it's a water activity.

I just did two sessions with it and it water locks, so it worked great. Now I’ve gotta test Siri to see if it can start an open water swim without me having to touch the screen. I always jump in the water and forget to start tracking first, and once my hands are wet... can’t use the touch screen. It drives me nuts

So I did a session last night with open water swim, and when I came in after 45 min... it showed it had paused at 10 min of riding and it was water locked. So frustrating....

Been testing the new Apple Watch "solo loop" band and works great when riding. No worries about it coming off at all.

Hi Guys, I started working on a dedicated Kiteboarding app for Apple Watch. You might have seen my Woo Screen Android Wear OS app and WOO app for Garmin watches. Now it is time for Apple Watch :D

There will be a completely new version of WOO Apple Watch app coming out soon - lots of improvements there for WOO owners, hopefully it will address most of your problems and you won't need to use a separate apps for tracking 8) . Stay tunned on that!

However, I also want to create an app for non-WOO users, so I'd love to get some feedback on what metrics you find important during and after the session. Here is what I have so far.

Display on the watch during the session:

- Current speed
- Max speed
- Max last 30 sec speed (for short speed runs and jump take off speed)
- Session duration
- Distance
- Heart rate ?
- Calories ?
- ?

After session review and functionality:

- GPS speed colored tracks
- Max speed
- Duration
- Distance
- Social sharing option
- Apple Fitness app session logging
- Heart rate graph ?
- Calories ?
- ?

Also, there will be some improvements in on-water usability (water locking, navigation options without touch screen). Give me your wish list in that area too!

Please let me know if you have any other recomendations. Thanks :thumb: !

Also on the list for the new Apple Watch app:

- VMG ?
- Polar plot ?
- Minimum speed for last 15 sec

Let me know guys if you are happy with the apps that you currently use. I think there is a lot of space for improvement, and not only in data, but also in watch screen layouts - what fields should be visible on the main watch screen and what should be on the secondary? I have my own preferences when I'm kiting, but I would like to get a second opinion :D
