I need some advice on how to combine the NSI Hooker Footstrap with the NSI 2 hole surface mount plate. I have attached 2 pictures to this email which show two possible approaches. Does anyone have experience with this? I have a Slingshot WF1 that has no strap inserts and trying to add this half strap to make water starting easier since I am just learning.

First way (inline), no question. I used Slingshot's 1st-gen hooks on a North surfboard once, effectively putting it in your second configuration. Didn't take it long to fail - light wind, light use - but fortunately Slingy has great customer service and replaced it with the Ride Engine version which has a much larger metal plate than what you have shown.
