Naish Ride

Postby fatkiter » Fri Oct 02, 2020 8:09 am

Hi fellow inmates,

I found a good deal for a new Naish Ride 11m and would like to ask if they are any good. I know they are now discontinued by naish and I think replaced by triad.

At the moment 11 is my mostly used number and I have a 2017 Best Cabo. I like the best but since 11 is my main number I would like a new kite...

If anyone has experience with both kites (ride and cabo) you immediately become my new favourite person in the world :)

Riding style is mostly mowing the lawn and trying to learn to jumb:)

Didn't think the Ride was offered in 11m

Yes definitely exists in 11m...

Question is is it any good?

Is it better than my current Best Cabo?

I cant comment too much on your cabo so take that into consideration.
So you are not really saying what style of riding you use it for.
I have ridden a lot of rides, and they are great kites. I did prefer them in the smaller sizes. As a kite they have great range, they depower well, and are pretty smooth across the range. Loops with little power. Jumping them is super easy and you can can do sheet in jumps in strapless surfboards. There is a bit of canopy movement in the higher range. Personally I would look for a pivot in 11 as I think they are magic, but I understand your deal is on a ride. :-)

If you found a good deal, go for it! I rode the ride for years as I got into strapless surfing before switching to the pivot.

Now, most of my buddies are on the ride. You’ll be very happy with it. Has low-end of a kite one meter larger and top-end one meter less.

If you’re still mowing the lawn and learning to jump this kite will keep you entertained for years to come.

Thanks for the replies

Do you think it will help me with learning to jump?

I am quite heavy (115 kg ) and so far I find it easier to make small jumps on my 14m Switch element and 17m Ozone zephyr but nearly impossible on the 11m best cabo. Ofcourse my jumping technique is non existent but I also feel like the best cabo might not be the ideal kite for this

Any kite can help you with learning to jump. It’s a technique thing, not a kite thing. If you’re a bigger dude you will need some decent breeze to jump on an 11, but I think this is a good code to do it.

I haven't tried the Cabo but it's a wave kite wave kites can jump but in general they don't jump as well a freeride kites. Wave kites are designed to drift downwind as opposed to freeride/big air or race kites that are designed to go upwind as efficiently as possible, as a result they will pull you up more instead of downwind so you normally do a higher jump and loose less ground going downwind.

I ordered it!!

Only thing I forgot to ask to those familiar with naish:

Can I use one of my existing bars?

I have Ozone bar and Liquid Force mission control
Ofcourse if pigtails are needed for connections I will use but in general is there any issue to using any of the 2 above with the naish ride?

Thanks

No it should work fine. Naish kites have the attachments reverse from most other kites knots on the front lines and loops on the rear lines but you can switch your pigtails around or just add pigtails on the kite and leave them there so you can use you other bars with it without changing things all the time.
