Definitely impact equipment...those crashes are no joke!
The crashes are nothing compared to going fast on a foil and going down. I would take a 45 knot crash on a speed board over a 30 knot foil board crash!

Interestingly, I too also have one of those, same tack. I have a Lost Cause opposite tack board. Deffo going to get them out this year when we get strong winds.
Well, no disagreement, not looking to crash in EITHER case!!

Love kiting that spot especially when it's a NEer and the butter flat water.....or foiling when it's a Southerly when the sand heats up and the only place for miles that has breeze

I have only gone 42 mph on my TwinTip overpowered but was not significantly overpowered
Which was definitely faster than Ive been able to hit foiling
So I believe it's possible to do 50 mph plus.

Of note, most GPS often miss the top speed accurately, if anything possibly under the actual top speed Correct ?

+1 without the right kit (see below) GPS readings are nonsense

Trace was a stand alone GPS with a 5hz rate. So not cutting edge by todays standards, but for 2017 is was as good as you could get for watersports. The GPS watch you’re touting uses the same sample rate. Never said I wasn’t bearing off to maximize speed, that was someone else.
I have no delusions that i could convince Matty V of anything. He is a contrarian and clearly is the smartest and most informed person in any room he finds himself in. Just read some of his posts and you be convinced of his superiority as I have. My sympathies to his wife.

The only thing confirming you didn’t bear away to accelerate is your gps track.

As good as you can get for Watersports? yet strangely lacking from the list of sanctioned devices for actual record setting or international competition.

The actions of the “smartest” in the room? That will be your I don’t need a speed board post shitting on a bloke that had just got one.

Then refusing that your gps could be anything less than cutting edge and ignoring me, or anyone else saying anything contra to you.

This is what I don’t get: your trace doesn’t show anything else but simple « reaches ». No bearing away attempt, if I’m not mistaken.
Your numbers are really astonishing: would you mind getting your trace processed, showing max speed over 2 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds?
This is what I get from my app, very informative, and does permit to eliminate artifact.
Getting a VMG graph would be even more appreciated

I used to have a Trace GPS and I always thought the maximum speeds it gave me were higher than I actually went. I think it recorded me going up to about 40mph during a fairly normal session, which I think is pretty unlikely in reality.

That is exactly why I’ve asked Daversj more numbers.
GPS can generate wrong plots, but no over durations of seconds.
I too have been excited at first when reading about my max speed, only to discover later that on a 2 seconds duration, my max speed was 5 km/h lower

100% there will be an excuse why he wont, its old, I don't have the track etc

there are very simple online programs, www.sportstracklive.com that will show everything clearly, they are free so there is no reason not to use them if its as legit as he says. if it is then hey I apologize, until then I reserve the right to be skeptical
