I have a Nomad Wave on my wishlist too. Also, the latest version of Mako is flexible. Ocean Rodeo tried many things to improve the Mako, and found only adding flex to make an improvement. Guess Nomad figured this out much earlier than them.

Now moved onto a Nomad Wave which has a similar profile to the Mako but really nice flex - I really love this board - the intention had been to use it just for waves but it’s very quickly become my main board.

You get spray in the face with the Trax? Trax should be one of the few boards with little to no spray, AFAIK.
Maybe something odd with the size/year you have, or somewhat bad setup. Tried a different stance width, or moving straps forward etc? I can’t stand boards that spray. Should be the single worst flaw a board can have IMO.

Yes the Trax was fun. But in the meantime I get too much water in my face with the board ;-) - That was indeed different in the past...

Yes, it is indeed so. I'm constantly try to get rid of the water in my face. It's actually a lot less fun.
I have tried the stance and also the straps. But it doesn't help. I also checked if there is anything broken, which is not the case.
It´s one of the main reasons why I want to change the board now. And it is heavy compared to other boards.
But yes it is not the newest one anymore.

Hi! Thanks again for your recommendations.
I have now gone through a few boards again. Also the ones you mentioned.
I think I will actually not buy the Misfit but a Lieuwe Shotgun. I really like the look of it! And the reviews I read sound very good too. I am really looking forward to having it under my feet.
Thank you very much for your experience. You were a great help!

I weigh the same as you and I have a Lieuwe Shotgun 136 x 40.5 which is perfect for my weight. :thumb:

Airush Apex for the win. fast, skatey (if you put smaller fins), cranks upwind, handles chop well.
History on me and why I like it:
I learned to kite on a wakeboard (coming from a wakeboard background).
Then I got a liquid force Mission (which is practically a wakeboard!!!)
Kept that for way too long and then moved to a Best Profanity, which was way better at staying upwind than the mission or my old wakeboard. (but in reality was still a terrible board to go upwind!!) I tried friends boards in between, and they were always too locked in and a boring ride.
I then tried an Airush Apex a couple years ago and my mind was blown. For 2 reasons. 1: The Best Profanity was terrible at going upwind and I didn't even know it. 2: The Apex is an amazing board for cranking upwind, boosting, cruising, but put boots on it and its not a far cry from a wake style board.
What's funny is I spent years cursing my crew that I couldn't get upwind as fast as them, but once I jumped on the Apex, it was silly how much more fun I was having cranking upwind, more jumps.
I also ride an Airush Livewire from time to time, which also cranks upwind way better than my old boards, but It hasn't seen a lot of time on the water just because I love the Apex is such an easier ride.

Thank you elmarco for your detailed answer.
I have also thought about the apex.
But I will now stay with the Lieuwe. Not that I get headaches again ;-)
But surely interesting for others as well. :thumb:

The difference between different twin tips is small in my experience. My favourite has been the Lieuwe Shotgun too. I didn’t get on with the Mako due to complete lack of flex and it being very heavy.
Now moved onto a Nomad Wave which has a similar profile to the Mako but really nice flex - I really love this board - the intention had been to use it just for waves but it’s very quickly become my main board.

I really love the shotgun, had my first session on it earlier. Arrived safely today Andy- thanks so much! Shout me anytime you are near the south coast, whitstable or camber way. Cheers.

Hey Mike,
Glad it arrived safely. I'll probably regret it in a year or two and buy another...
