Interesting. Here's a review of the 11m in 5 knots of wind. If that holds up that is impressive! https://www.thekiteboarder.com/2022/04/ ... ot-ufo-v2/

Seems feasible (the review was talking about min wind to hang in the air). That's about the minimum windspeed for my flysurfer soul which is a similar weight. The difference is that my soul requires constant attention as it sits so far forwards in the window (one mistake and it will drop out the sky). If this sits a good bit deeper it might be more manageable to hang there in those windspeeds which would be a big advantage.

It sounded to me like they claimed that they were actually riding in that wind.
Our first impression of the UFO was on the new 11m size in 5-knots of breeze with a Phantasm and Alien Air under foot.
BTW, for those that read my measurements post a couple of posts back, I had to edit it to show I was comparing two 9m kites. Originally, I thought the V2 was an 8m, as that's what I ordered.

I see what you mean but I read the second line of the full paragraph:
Impressions
Our first impression of the UFO was on the new 11m size in 5-knots of breeze with a Phantasm and Alien Air under foot. One of the secrets to the UFO’s formula is its ability to float in the air in 5-knots even with subtle lulls, because that’s what keeps your foilkiting session going.
First line says they were out in 5 knots. The second line says it will sit in the sky at 5 knots. I think its journalistic sensationalism really. Its not a false statement but it implies a great deal more than it should do.

A bit ambiguous to be sure. Regardless, I take claims of riding in 5 knots with a grain of salt until I see it happen for myself.

Just read this review on the Real site. Sounds promising:

https://www.realwatersports.com/collect ... fo-v2-kite
I got to try the 7m UFO V2 recently, and I was blown away by how much fun I had. The best way to describe the kite is lively. Flying that kite is like taking a wild puppy for a walk. High energy, all over the place, fast, spontaneous, just fun. The power delivery on it is very different than anything else. The power is not always intuitive or what you would normally expect from a kite, and that probably has to do with the fact it doesn't have any struts. Sometimes you have less power than you would think, and it has a lot of pull when directly overhead. But overall, its just a hell of a lot of fun. I also purposely dropped the kite a few times and found it easier to relaunch than the V1. The V2 does seem to be noticeably better than the V1. The earlier one would kind of swing wide when powered and was a little less controllable. This new one has better overall control to it, and its just endless fun. Can't wait to try it in more sizes.

I received an 8m and an 11m; I was too slow to score a 4m. Another month or so probably. The 8m weighs very slightly less than advertised, about an ounce. The 11m weighs very slightly more than advertised by about an ounce. Either way, well within the slight production variance expected. Again, it is so great to see advertised weights actually reflect reality!! I should get an opportunity to try both the 11m and the 8m in Mexico in a couple of weeks and will report my impressions. In particular, I should see some VERY light winds and see how the 11m does in those conditions. The V1.1 UFO 9m just was almost, but not quite, as good as my one strut 12m kite. We'll see if that's changed, and if the UFO can take the light wind crown. :)

5m ufo v2 1,25kg

5m ufo v1.0 1.31 kg new 1.36 now with some patches, dirt, sand, and salt.

The leading edge diameter, outline, etc. looks identical to me.

The only difference seems to be the bridle and leading edge material.

The bag is bigger but in otherways is identical. I don’t know how you would hang a pump from it.

A 4m is on the way.

4m ufo

And the 4m leading edge is light gray and the 5m is black.

And I had the 5m out today and maybe my old 5m is a bit baggy but the new 5m sits in a better place and is a bit faster flying. And when it goes slack has less of a tendency to go leading edge down so it floats better.

So in spite of appearances slingshot did make some changes for the better.

purdyd: gr8 to hear. Just got my 4m UFO yesterday. We thought it would fill the gap in our quiver when we BOTH wanted an inflatable kite. IIRC, I bought your old 7m. Or was it the 5m? Either way, we loved the UFOs and the Peak4s for our winter in Baja! Having 3m Peak4 and UFO, 4m Peak4, and 5m Peak4 and UFO was great. Since returning, we've purchased the 4m UFO and another 4m Peak5. Maybe we will be satisfied for awhile??
