Ocean Rodeo Soul drysuit size for 193cm x 80kg person?

Postby omg » Thu Oct 15, 2020 8:09 pm

So, the headline pretty much says it all; I'm wondering what size should I get? Some commented that the OR Soul is sizing wise quite off, hence my question.

Thanks! :thumb:

I'm 188 cm x 79.5 kg, so pretty close, tall and lanky. According to the OR drysuit size chart, I should be in a size XL drysuit, but I actually own & wear a size Large.

The XL is just a bit too big and loose, particularly the neck and wrist seals. Going down to the size Large suit gets me neck and wrist seals that are one size down from those in the XL suit, with about a 10% smaller neck & wrist openings. The tighter seals in the size Large are less prone to burp air during rapid water entry ( AKA wipe-out ) with accompanying trickles of water coming in as the air burps out.

The size Large suit is a tad small in the rise and arm lengths, but still roomy enough for as many under-layers as I need to stay warm in northern Pacific / Canadian winter weather.

With your added height, you will need the size XL, but may find the neck and ankle seals on the loose side of the comfort - sealability spectrum.

Wish Ocean Rodeo still made a size Large-Tall ( they used to back in the Pyro days ), which would be perfect for me, and maybe for you, OMG.

As the title says, I'm 6'3 and 176lbs. Tall and lanky, fit condition, using trousers waist around 35".

You need a hamburger...life is TOO SHORT to live on sprouts :)

I am just under 125kg at 6' 2" and just fit into the OR Heat XLK - some of my skinny guy buddies like you get the suit for size and then immediately get the neck and cuff seals changed to fit their meager dimensions. Just a thought. Or you could bulk up to fit the suit...haha

A little extra room is really not an issue for a drysuit as long as your neck and cuffs fit right. Do get the integrated socks 100% IMHO makes the suit 1000% faster to put on and take off and one less entry point for cold water = nice warm feet in wool socks all covered in a slim 3mm booty.

Once you get a dry suit dialed you won't think about anything else for water below 50 degrees.

I am 5'9" 160 lbs and have the L and it is too big on me but I can wear it.
I had my son in-law 6'5" 180 lbs use it and it was very slightly short in the arms and legs but OK to use with no issues.

So I think you would be OK with the L
Agree above don't get the integrated socks.
You can always contact OR as well.
The Soul is outstanding for cold weather riding. It's a great feeling being warm and dry after finishing a seession on a cold

I'm 186cm and 81kg and the xl fits me but its baggy. At your lenght i think the xl would fit and still enable you to move.

I also have really thin wrists and the seals leak a few drops every session but not too bad. Wearing gloves over the seal this problem goes away for me. The neck and ankles font leak at all.

I am even 1.93 m tall and 82 kg, but still have "Large". Happy with the size. - Tom

I find the size chart to be spot on for my size...5'9" 188lbs.......Med King fits perfectly... I would think the large would be fine for you anfd the XL baggy...

I wasn't satisfied with the fit,I'm 6'4 220 ,36 inseam, long arms and none of the sizes seemed right, way to baggy in the larger size, seemed to be giving me discomfort in my "man region " lol
