I replaced the QR on my 2017 1x overdrive bar after finding a bit of corrosion.
It was a pretty straightforward job, essentially following this video
Now when I ride trimmed for low power the weight of the leash pulls the security line down and it swings around by my harness (pic related). I don't think this is working as intended but it's possible I just didn't notice before. Seems like the extra slack in the line should be kept up high above the recoil assembly to avoid tangles.
I notice that the lower line is elastic inside the tube. I wonder if maybe the elastic just wore out suddenly? I did have a pretty involved self rescue a few weeks ago

Yup, same on my old best/north "redline bars". Hand made replacement 'dangels' at full trim, but is tight at normal use trim.
Bungees suck, hope I can find a remedy for my new slingshot bar.
kct,
Yea this just happens over time; the elasticity in the line wears out. It's a cheap replacement part; I've replaced a couple on my bars. You can double-check, but I believe you're looking for this:
Lower Landing Slf Line
Code:KS7SLFLDE
Make sure you get the one for recoil or trimlite as applicable to your bar(s).
If ordering an original spare part, make sure you get 'Size: RCL' (for Recoil bar). It is longer than the Trimlite one.
Your other option is to splice a new bungee cord if the line is in good nick.
A friend of mine did it few days ago - his very first time splicing kite lines.

Interesting thanks. Man this part is not easy to find. Cabrinha has it on their website but only a newer version is available. I contacted them hopefully the new line is compatible with the 2017 bar.

Thats interesting.
On those rubber inner core bungee lines I thought the rubber has to be fixed at the endpoints. But looking at yr pic and thinking about, my question is if it is really necessary to do so?
If proper made, it perhaps is enough to put the rubber just into the lines hose instead of fixing it in addition?
If you are attempting to make a custom bungee safety line make sure it does slide freely when releasing.
The thicker section with bungee can bundle up and block in the QR center hole and jam the whole thing - serious hazard.
