Ronstan series 30 pulley on Cabrinha fireball. wdyt?

Postby kct » Sat Jan 09, 2021 6:45 pm

I want to try a rope spreader but my bar has the fireball. I saw some setups like this I'm pretty optimistic.

I think the downside is that I lose a safety system in that if the QR fails for some reason I can't unhook. Though from what I can tell this is the case with all rope setups.

Personally I don’t feel the need for a second method of releasing the centre lines. However if they are still making the Dynabar this used to have one end of the runner on a release pin. Simple pin attached to a ball through a spliced loop held in place by bungee.

You can also get pulley hooks. Don’t do anything special to get the runner tight as the system is a rope lever as explained in previous threads.

Have not had a simple flip pin Cabrinha QR fail closed yet from 100s of uses.

My tips would be:
1. Shorten the rope as much as possible, it’s smoother
2. Try a Ronstan 41100 pulley, its smooth, connection rotates, and no sand in bearing
3. Shorten QR-to-pulley connection as much as possible, gives more/easier throw

Been using it for 4 years and found nothing better yet (I'm obviously not a freestyle rider)

I have since made the QR-to-Pulley even shorter by removing the metal ring and just using
a 2x thick 7/64" Amsteel buried loop sewn tight.

That will probably work fine, but the 2020 Cab bars support a rope spreader via the modular system. You just need (2) parts to convert your old Cab bars to modular sliders:

MODULAR QR BODY
Code: K0PCMDQRB

MODULAR SLIDER K0CAMDSLD
Code: K0CAMDSLD

I ordered mine from Adventure Kiteboarding:
http://www.adventurekiteboarding.com/ca ... r-qr-body/
http://www.adventurekiteboarding.com/ca ... pe-slider/

I've converted (3) of my old Cab bars to the 2020 modular system, and I'm very happy with it.

Hi kct,
In my opinion rope is too long and also the pulley system add too much length.
This is my set up:

Been riding with it in the last 3 years, it slides perfectly!

Why no safety leash? The Fireball has provision for it.

Oh yeah the safety leash is the same as always. I just don't have it attached in this photo.

I'll shorten the rope as much as I can. Also I'm starting to think that this kind of hacked system is safer than the default production model because it forces one to check the QR every session.
