When I told my wife (medical person) that I was more interested in kitesurfing than racing motorcycles she said good, that's a lot safer than the class you were racing in (where in 10 years 2-1/2* out of about 80 in my class died on the track).
* the 1/2 was the rider who hit the armco head on, was resuscitated on track, but lost all memory of who he was, his family, wife, kids etc.

I met a french guy at a kite surf school in france 2001 when learned. Asked him why he wanted to get into kiting " well i was into paragliding, the extreme kind where you do tricks and stuff. My fiance told me if i don't stop doing it, she wont marry me. 2 of my friends died paragliding. So kitesurfing seemed a good compromise ".

Out of interest, do you still ride on the road? I'm getting increasing pressure to stop from my wife. Kiting is fine.

My wife and I have modified Aprilia SXV 550 supermotos which we ride in the narrow roads and trails on the South Downs etc. Only ride on main roads to and from. Too much traffic and dodgy driving for road riding.
