After a decade of kitesurfing and living next to one of arguably Australia's best kiting spots, something strange has happened over the last 6 months... I've lost me kite mojo.
... We had a kid ...
You said it all. Nature is telling you to stop focusing on yourself and spend as much as possible with your new born. He will be deeply grateful.

If really look at this its not easy to find a solution. You get bored because nature wants you to do somethings else, but its not easy to find..riding a bike on beach road doesnt cut it, going to snow takes too much time and money, finding surf is another 4 hour round trip and with a young family not easy...we are born with a base level of excitability or threshold for excitement is different by genetics and later your upbringing reinforces natural tendencies ..now when you are middle aged and trying to break from the mold or finding something as exciting is way more difficult ...you can of course leave everything behind including job, wife , kids and go somewhere else..but its covid!

That's an alternative take on things! The more I think about it, the more I have to question the narrative I am following. Nothing like having your views challenged. Thanks!

Those are the 2 tricks that Toby will seemingly never be able to film himself pull off
Having a wife to love
Having a kid to love
That takes real mojo to add that to the list of tricks

Trust me, my mojo without kids and many girls is just fine. Plus kiting. I am living my personal dream. Don't need to change anything. Also not the equipment

Awesome comments thanks. Yes I'm in Melbourne, yes I have planned some trips away still within our state as we keep getting blocked from entering other states and its too hard to plan. So hopefully a bit of the Victorian surf coast will do the trick.
The filming idea, each year we use to go on an international kite holiday with mates to escape the winter and make up a video edit at the end, they are awesome for getting stoked.
This was our last trip 2 or 3 years ago before kid and COVID. I gotta say, watching that again does get me pumped!
Having a kid probably does have a bit to do with it like someone said. I enjoy hanging out with her and im teaching her to ride a tricycle at the moment.
I also thinking getting into kite looping has ruined me too. That is so much fun that any other riding, even unhooked tricks don't get the adrenalin / buzz up anymore. But the days with 25 knots and above are much less.
