Will Wingfoiling lead people into Kitesurfing?

Watching this video HERE that question came to my mind...

At the moment we see people converting from Kitefoiling or Kitesurfing to Wingfoiling (or adding it to their range).

But, in few years, will we see people taking up a kite instead of a wing?

What do you guys think?

Yes

Foiling is fun. Flying a kite is fun. Holding a wing in and of itself is not fun. I am advancing in both but feel kiting will always be more dynamic and fun.

This might be your own personal feelings. I'm not sure holing an inflatable wing on strings is inherently more fun than holding an inflatable wing without strings.

I don't see people switching from wing foiling to kite foiling. The essential & revolutionary part of the equation is the foil itself. I think the biggest advantage for wing foiling is that it's the easiest way to get into foiling from scratch. Kite foiling makes sense for people who already know how to kitesurf - IMO it isn't a natural "upgrade" for someone who only wing foils.

Let's look at our average kitefoiler. They just cruise around, back and forth. Same as the wingfoiler. Why bother?
When wingfoilers will realize that they will have to abandon their lakes and other spots because they simply can't launch a kite there, they will ask a reasonable question... Why bother?
Then wingfoilers will realize that they will have to buy completely new equipment, since their huge boards with huge foil wings only fit for really light wind days. And said new equipment will cost much more than their wingfoil equipment. Why bother?

Look, people who wish for something much more exciting than just cruising around don't start with wingfoiling, they go directly for kiting.

Doesn't everyone want to fly? That was my thinking at least when I say it for the first time and knew I had to try that.

I think winging will get people into kite boarding. Most people that don't kite are scared of the wind, water, kite falling down, ECT... The wing lets people try a wind sport and get used to the power of the wind along with getting into the ocean and over their fears of floating at Sea. I think winging is a gate way sport to wind sports and when people realize how fun the wind can be, they'll want to start boosting and no better way to boost than on a kite.
