Duotone Jaime vs Select 2021

Postby andikite » Sun Feb 28, 2021 9:16 am

I'm planning order a new twintip board and I have doubts about these two models.

Has anyone tried both ones and could give me some comment about the main diferences?

I go with Dice and strapless board 70% and twintip 30% of the time. I use the twintip for old schools tricks and I am starting to go higher with kiteloops but no too much radical.

Which board should be my choice? In my spots some times there is choppy condition.

If boosting is your thing (which sounds like it from your post above), you'll probably want the Jaime. If primarily just freeriding (all around comfort) then the Select.

That is my understanding too. Worth saying I think there are better boards for the money. May have changed but my Jaime from 2016 or so felt poorly made, the rails were very soft. I changed to a Lieuwe Shotgun which was an improvement both in ride and quality of build.

I just demo'ed a 2021 Jaime SLS last weekend, and I thought the build quality (and ride) was excellent.

I bought this blind https://www.northkb.com/en/products/twi ... r-freeride at the end of the summer. Just read the spec and took a punt. 138 x 41. And I'm 74kg. So nice in chop and I can't fault it to be fair. So smooth through the chop. I have the 2020 version no the 2021.

I owned both of them (Teams Series also). Hands down Jaime.

The only good review of freeride vs freestyle board review I have seen is from kitelife. It's a comparison between Flysurfer Radical & Rush but probably will apply to Select vs Jaime.

If you want to jump, Jaime hands down because it has better pop and also smoother landings. The Select is more a Freeride mow-the-lawn board in my opinion.

I ordered Jaime 139 '21 week ago and have another few more weeks to wait. I hope this board live up to the expectations and build quality will be solid as this is something that I have little worry.
This board will be replacing my Shinn Ronson 140cm
