So if I have a kite, can I tear it down panel by panel keep it in order and make copies of it using new rip stop or t9600 and piece the new ones together to have a new kite? Yes I know that would be expensive but I have kite that is torn up and barely used and I don’t use it. Why not take it apart and try to build a new one on my own to see how it goes.

I made my first LEI back in 2002-2003, it is cheaper to buy,it is not worth to copy, unless you want to make own design ideas. You will probably will not make precise layout by copying panels. Then going blind- seams can be tricky to get the right place. Get CAD, get CAD cut panels. if you are ready to achieve excellent sewing skills 4 times longer time than you imagine now.
