Hello
So I got my beginner girlfriend a 137x42 TT as a starter kiteboard. She is 56kg (124lbs), 5ft 3 and will be using a 9m Switchblade in 15ish knot winds. I based the sizing on the fact my instructor was going to put her on a 138 x 43 (even bigger) but now we have the 2nd hand board here (was posted) she is adamant that it looks too long and not wide enough i.e. not square enough. I know in the lessons she had a wider board than me as I was edging more whilst she was going more with the wind.
So who is right here?
I've seen a great deal on a second hand 130 x 139 but at least for now I feel that wouldn't give her enough buoyancy. Who is right?
p.s. sorry about yet another board size post!

Use the board you have and see how it goes before making any decisions.

If you paid for an instructor, wouldn't you give them the benefit of the doubt regarding equipment recommendation?
In general any person can use any size board for a unique situation.
I would also recommend a flat 138(or larger) for any beginner. As long as the stance is comfortable, you're good to go. The longer(and wider) the board is, the easier it is to learn in lighter wind(ideally in the 10-20kn range). The smaller the board, the more power(wind, speed, technique) it takes to function correctly - Probably more power than any newbie is comfortable with.

Women have a 6th sense about things like that
Listen to her
Make her happy
She will kite more and remain your girlfriend

Did she try it yet?
If not, first try and see how it goes.
No beginner can know for a fact what works and what not !
You need a lot of experience to know that before hand !

Doesn’t matter if it really works or not. She does NOT like it, it WON’T work. You have to learn to not just read between the lines but listen between the lines as well.
Or sign a prenup now!

1st She is ALWAYS RIGHT , get on board... seems like your question reeks more of BOYancy vs. buoyancy.
As you can clearly see there are really
NO LIMITS and you will likely never get bored with your board. Especially if you have a chair option.
My .02 drop the tech spec and just play at it - KITING IS FUN...
