Cool. Would be extremely interested if it meant I could replace a 3 kite quiver with a 2 kites.

Unfortunately I'm expecting it to be quite some time away. And of course it still has to perform.

I predict we’ll get a 5 strut aluula announcement in a few weeks time.

As for performance, seems like giel loops a pretty big 5 strutter in his welcome vid

Cool.

I couldn't tell, but is he really riding a 5 struts kite in that video? I would have guessed it is the Crave?

Yes, in the video from 25 second to 40 seconds it is all a 5 strut kite.
Looks like a 10M which I would guess is probably a sweet spot for kiteloops on a high-aspect kite that normally is a bit slow but with aluula will add enough speed.
If I had to guess sizes above 10M will be a joy form most people but I guess from 8M and down high aspect dacron kites will be good enough for jumping/looping.
Will also be interesting to see if the added stiffness of the aluula frame will make it uncomfortable in gusty wind.
I am sure at the top level it will give it an competitive advantage but that doesn't mean an average rider will be happy with it. (e.g. like a super stiff race suspension in a road car)

I will never be a good enough rider to ride these kites anywhere near their potential. But it would have quite a lot of practical value for me if I could get away with 2 kites that are good at boosting for a heavy rider while at the same time be decent in light wind conditions.

I like the 13m Rebel. It kind of allows me to kite in light conditions while still allowing for jumps. If a 13m Aluula 5-struts kite could give me something of the same, but maybe a bit wider wind range for higher winds - then brilliant. If so I could see a 9m overlapping nicely. And if a 9m Aluula would work in the same high wind conditions as my 9m Enduro - then I got all I need in 2 kites. The last part might be a bit optimistic, but so far everyone are talking about the great windrange of Aluula. Could obviously also go 8 and 12 adjusting for the aspect ratio vs. my current setup (and that a 12m Aluula would be similar to a 13m Rebel).

I found a review of the Rise as well:

"The Rise is aimed at being the ultimate free ride kite, and to be perfectly honest it isn’t far off. Instantly the kite feels at home in your hands, the bar pressure isn’t too hard or too soft, it feels comfortable, allowing you to know where the kite is at all times just from the feedback in the bar. Ocean Rodeo say that the Rise is the easiest kite in their range to fly, and they aren’t wrong on that either. It is one of the best ‘jump on and ride’ kites we have ridden in a while. There is nothing surprising or untoward about the way it flies, it just feels natural. There is plenty of depower at your finger tips and the relaunch on the Rise is excellent. One thing that did impress though was the jumping capabilities of this kite. Hands down it is the most aggressive yank off the water we have had for a while. In flight the kite is easy to control and it seems to keep pulling you up. We hit some of the biggest airs of the session on the Rise and for the kiter who enjoys going big this is definitely a weapon they should consider. The kite is also very fast through the air."

It's from 2009, but they could probably use the same words for the Aluula-version
