I don't know if capitalism is a good term describing things, but clearly any non authoritarian government structure has always struggled to find any solution for the "tragedy of the commons". A bit surprising to me that more time hasn't been spent on understanding that issue better. Which is why it seems like many green parties are leaning left - presuming only governments can solve environmental issues basically through force.

And as for people virtue signaling through refusing to use plastic straws etc. seems to be more important than trying to understand the real issue. Happy days. Bill would have had a fantastic time.
