2021 Reach

reach 1.png

Time and tide wait for no-one

What are you willing to reach for? The 2021 Reach has no boundaries. Lively and playful, this 3-strut allrounder has unparalleled versatility and wind range. Big jumps. Upwind performance. Effortless relaunch. Its even lighter construction excels in lightwind, foil and surf, without compromising the kite’s durability. Its snappy, responsive steering and power delivery give rise to great boosts, loops and freestyle moves.

Your go-to kite in all conditions. The Reach is nimble and easy to ride, with high-performance attributes that guarantee you’ll never grow out of it. Its fuller profile generates power and efficiency, while its 3-strut construction delivers quick, responsive steering in even the lightest wind. In the three larger sizes, the Reach is a powerful lightwind kite designed with a predictable, consistent drive forward for TwinTip riding long after everyone else has gone in.

For 2021 we’ve introduced new highest quality low-profile, low-elongation bridle lines for an even more direct response. We’ve adopted lighter weight bladders across all sizes in the range, refined the shape and retuned the short responsive bridle for quick, exponential depower, so you can fly faster, and more efficiently, in an even wider range of conditions. This is the one kite you’ll always reach for.

NEW HIGHEST QUALITY SHORT RESPONSIVE BRIDLE
Our new low-profile, pre-stretched bridle lines are pre-loaded and measured before cutting to improve accuracy and consistency. This results in reduced shrinkage, reduced elongation and improved longevity. Removing ALL pulleys from the bridle improves safety and gives the kite direct and precise handling. The end result is lower drag, more accuracy and a more direct feeling. New tuning of the short responsive bridle gives the Reach quick, exponential depower, allowing you to ride it in an even wider range of conditions.

NEW LIGHTWEIGHT BLADDERS IN EVERY SIZE
Lighter weight bladders have now been adopted into every size in the range. This additional weight reduction helps the new 2021 Reach fly more efficiently, and improves performance in lighter winds.

NEW LIGHTER WEIGHT CONSTRUCTION
Perfect for foiling and lightwind twintip riding, the Reach has a stable and balanced fuller profile for predictable, consistent power delivery in every condition, and exceptional performance at the low-end. The lightest kite in our range, the Reach’s lighter weight 3-strut construction and more powerful draft-forward profile helps you get up and going in light wind conditions. NEW reduced construction weight helps the 2021 Reach fly more efficiently with even better performance in lighter winds. We’ve kept the weight down for optimal steering and performance without compromising strength or durability, using a small two-ply of canopy along the trailing edge instead of heavier Dacron materials. In the larger sizes we’ve also used a lighter dacron in all of the leading edges and struts.

BOOSTS AND LOOPS WITH A SMOOTH RELIABLE CATCH
The Reach has superb loft and hangtime with a compact steering radius, thanks to its medium aspect ratio design with wider wing-tip and well-balanced bridle. During a loop, many kites will pause before they climb back up, but the Reach has a smooth, consistent catch and doesn’t hesitate to come back around.

MASSIVE WINDRANGE AND UPWIND DRIVE
A powerful draft-forward profile, in combination with optimised profile transition panels, give the Reach a very smooth and efficient profile entry and upwind drive.

INCREDIBLY POWERFUL AND EFFICIENT
The Reach has a slightly higher aspect ratio design for superb loft and hangtime, while its wider wing-tip and well-balanced bridle help to maintain a compact steering radius, ideal for kite-looping. During kiteloops the Reach has a smooth, consistent catch and doesn’t hesitate to come back around.

DIRECT AND RESPONSIVE STEERING
Tactile handling with light bar pressure and steering impulse for a fast response and tight turning radius. The quick responsive steering and neutral static balance help you fire up your performance in the surf, without any surprises. The Reach drifts well and doesn’t fall over, front-stall or back-stall. The bar pressure and steering impulse can be adjusted on the wing tip, allowing you to fine tune the kite's characteristics to your personal preference.

CONFIDENT RELAUNCH WITH SWEPT DESIGN
The moderate leading edge diameter medium high aspect design allows more area in the centre of the kite for efficiency and provides additional buoyancy, helping the kite to release quickly from the water in even the lightest conditions.

PRECISE DRAFT-FORWARD PROFILE
The draft-forward profile, in combination with optimised profile transition panels, give the Reach a very smooth and efficient profile entry and upwind drive. For the Reach we’ve developed a longitudinal profile control that connects to the leading edge seam to ensure a precise profile shape is maintained as close to the leading edge as possible, creating a smooth transition from the segmented leading edge to the curved canopy. This results in an even more aerodynamic and efficient airflow and less turbulence.

PROGRESSIVE FREESTYLE MEDIUM HIGH AR
A forgiving kite with pop when you need it for freestyle manoeuvres. The medium high aspect ratio, combined with a powerful profile, gives the Reach explosive pop. Good pop helps generate line slack for handle passes - simply load up, edge hard and pop off the water for easy Freestyle progression.

PREMIUM TEIJIN D2 TECHNO FORCE CANOPY
D2 Ripstop Fabric by Teijin. Premium high-density canopy material made in Japan, using high tenacity polyester yarn for lightness, high tearing strength and endurance. Teijin Techno Force has the highest strength to weight ratio and longest durability in the industry.

DURALITE SEAM PROTECTION
Lightweight reinforcement to protect from chafing and abrasion along the struts to the leading edge. Thin foam padding is inserted underneath to form a lightweight durable buffer which lifts the kite slightly off rough surfaces, and protects the stitching along the struts and leading edge seams.

KEVLAR REINFORCED STRUT SYSTEM WITH BRIDLE DEFLECTORS
For the most accurate and durable connection between the strut and the leading edge. Bridle deflectors on the leading edge prevent the control lines catching on the struts.

HYPERFLOW RAPID SINGLE-POINT INFLATION
High volume single point inflation system with larger diameter hose for rapid inflation and deflation. Bayonet style main inflation valve compatible with most pumps. No adaptor required.

INCREDIBLE STABILITY FOR FOIL AND LIGHTWIND
Boasting predictable, consistent power delivery in every condition, the Reach has exceptional performance at the low-end - especially at slower speeds in lighter wind. Its moderate leading edge diameter provides additional buoyancy, helping the kite to release quickly from the water in even the lightest conditions.

WELL-BALANCED TACTILE SURF HANDLING
Quick responsive steering and neutral static balance helps you fire up your performance in the surf, without any surprises. The Reach drifts well and doesn’t fall over, front-stall or back-stall - making it your go-to kite for foiling and wave-riding.

Out of curiosity, did they change the recommended inflation psi on the 2021 reach vs 2020? I always felt like the 2020 needed a bit more inflation than the range printed on the kite. Flys great with a little more air. Wondering if they acknowledged this issue in the 2021 version.

Yes, I tried a few different pumps, so it wasn't an inflation guague issue (unless all the pumps were reading wrong).

Was out with a friend today who was demoing a 2021 Reach 9m in 20-25 knots. Was watching his kite and it obviously flew very very well, I was impressed. I have Enduro V2s which work fine for me so I won't be changing, but if I wanted to I'd definitely demo the 2021 Reach. Later had a good look at the construction which I couldn't fault. And no pulleys. 8)

I wonder too!
I'm also inflating harder then recommended (I use the ticking technique on the LE).
