Wow! 10 cm. I was looking at the Liros SK99 line at Green Hat Kiteboarding. It says it is pre-stretched. I talked to them. They don't load their lines prior to making a new set and said they have no stretch problems. Are there different types of SK99? Are some not pre-stretched?

Liros claims they pre-stretch them. Have not noticed any stretch on my SK99 lines altho I went Heavy Duty with 2mm SK99/1.6mm SK99 so my weight just does not stress it.

Other manufacturers may be less meticulous about this than Liros (who actually makes their stuff in a factory in Germany).

It’s normal imho and I’m surprised you didn’t get more stretch out of them.

Just did mine with SK99 1.3 270kg. I did run some tests with 1m length just for fun. Initial length was exactly 1m (brummel lock splice both ends) that I pre-load by applying 10x a load of 100kg (1 min. of rest between each load). The line ended at exactly 1.021m. I let it rest for 1 day and it finally ended at 1.019m, which is about right with the tech specs that is 2% of stretch.

With that in mind, I pre-load all of my 4 lines (with the same load that i used in my test) with a binder. Harder to measure precisely the streching at this length, but i’m pretty sure i did get around that 2% again.

But it’s not a big deal for your line. You could give a good load to each of your lines. Remark them exactly equal and re-splice them.

What line did you use? Sounds like Premiumropes, always had my doubts about the amount of prestretch they use by the course look of these lines.

From my experience with the 1.7mm 550kg line from braidtech it is hard to get more than a few cm stretch in those lines. In fact it is more common to get them to shrink over time.

It’s shrinkage not stretch thats the issue.

Rear lines always end up shorter? Because they are unloaded (relatively and shrink back) this has been covered many many times.

Measure the lines out against a set distance and it’s clear what’s happened (99%of the time)

10cm rear lines shrinkage in 5 sessions is possible. But what happened in your case is definitely not OK (one rear line no shrinkage, the other stretched by 10cm).

Do you still have some of these two lines left? I'm sure it would be interesting for most of the people who took time to discuss the issue, to hear what happened when you pull same length of each line with the same load.
Luggage scales are the easiest way. Overhand or bowline knot loops at both ends won't slip at ~30kg, what you can pull with your body weight.

Only have 50cm left of each line (red and blue).
Put loops on them, but could not get any stretch out of either one by pulling using my bodyweight.

Quess I will just keep kiting with these lines and see what happens, probably nothing, but if it ends up braking I will post again.

Way too short to notice any difference. I normally get 2-3cm on 10m length with SK99 or high quality SK75.

You'll probably need to change the front lines, long before these 400kg new rear lines
