First kite for a very, very beginner

Hi, I would like to buy my first, used kite.

I am 83kg (183 lbs) and my usual spot where I go to kite often has 10-15 knots in summer.

Which kite do you suggest me?

As I said, I'm a very beginner, I m not able to go upwind yet e fall often in the water.

after some research I thinked about these kite and size but I dont know if they are ok:

what do you think? I m open to all the suggestions

I started with an Evo when it was still north. Still like it six years on although I hate the north bar I got with it. I like it better than the cabrina slingshot I got to replace it.

I'm only 75 kg and I would ride my 17m Ocean Rodeo Flite in those winds, 12m is too small for you.

When I was a beginner my Zephyr (17m) was by far the kite I used the most. I'm a bit heavier, but anything around 15 knots would be the 17m. Down to 10 I wouldn't be able to ride unless we were, and are I guess, talking about very flat water and a very big board (assuming TT).

What Havre said. Get a lightwind board - in the 150-160cm range. That with a 12m Evo/Neo would get you going in 12-13kn.

If the winds don't often go over your 15kn range, then you should consider a lightwind 15m like a Juice (staying with the Duotone theme). That with your giant board should get you mowing the lawn in 10kn.

That is very light wind, and 12m is way too small. I recommend a 15m Duotone Juice.

For those who say that 12m is small for 10-15kts of wind and 83kg rider should consider WHERE does the person ride. Is it sea or inland. Whenever we have 12 knots majority of our riders get 12-14m kites out and ride on standard twintips, because inland winds provide much more power than sea winds.

Answering OP's question: Get a 12m Evo and look for the door if you wanna go for 10kts winds.

The only difference is inland winds are gusty, you always want to take both the average and gusts in to account when kitesurfing. Ideally you rig small enough to be comfortable in the gusts yet big enough to handle the average.

For me, a 12m kite + TT works in the 11-25 knot range. So if I think it'll be about 15-20 with gusts up to 25 I'll take a 12m.
Meanwhile my 17m kite + TT works in the 9-22 knot range. So if I think it'll be about 12-14 with gusts up to 18 I'll take the 17m.

The OP has said he's looking at 10-15 knot winds, these are borderline winds for 12m, especially 80 kg people. I have no clue why people would be advising him to get a 12m and compensate with a door board. While that might work, he would have much more fun and an easier time on 14-17m kite and a normal board.

In 12kts with a 17m you can use a regular size board and have the power you need to get upwind, and also JUMP. Just sayin.

17m is shit, let alone trying to learn on it.

Normally I say not to bother using a TT when it's below 15kn, but he's learning and should be on a bigger board anyway. Lawn mowing for him will be exciting.
