Because it depends on what you measure how much stronger it is. It is actually on the Ocean Rodeo website of you look for aluula attributes.
Basically tear strength for aluula gold is about 6x but tensile strength is just double that of Dacron.

I *think* the black aluula they did the initial tear demo with was actually a heavier variant so they also kinda already did what you said.

Its sometimes more practical & cheaper to manufacture material with certain properties, material trend for thickness vs straight is definitely not straight line but a curve meaning that reducing thickens by 50% can affect straight by 80% for example.
IMHO Aluula is expensive not only because it's probably expensive to make but mainly because they can make more money making fewer kites as people are willing to pay. Once they sell it to all those who are willing to pay premium price will go down to expand market for more customers.

IMHO Aluula is expensive not only because it's probably expensive to make but mainly because they can make more money making fewer kites as people are willing to pay. Once they sell it to all those who are willing to pay premium price will go down to expand market for more customers.

Aluula, as a company, do not make kites - they make Aluula material.
Fewer kites = less money.

I did read somewhere that the directors of Ocean Rodeo were also the directors of the Aluula manufacturing company, I don’t know if this is true or not.
If so, they won’t be reducing the Aluula cloth price anytime soon as it would allow competitors to under cut them. There is a finite market for super high end kites and wings, why wouldn’t Ocean Rodeo keep it for themselves.

Less kites sold at higher prices = more money with less hassle
If they wanted to sell more they would make it cheaper and this will happen eventually when everyone who wants to pay premium eventually get their kites.
Now only competition could really make OR to reduce their price but it doesn’t seem like they have anything similar to Aluula.

I’m not bothered that much as I ride only TT and for LW at my 92kg foil kite will have better LW although I would be willing to pay extra for LEI that would have similar LW to my Soul but gives less hassle

This company is from Canada as well hence I’m sure OR and Aluula are somehow linked

I really liked the demo of Aluula when I saw it at the AWSI 2 years ago. Very impressive. I guess that the issue will remain that the benefits offered may suffer in comparison to price. Furthermore, while the strength is truly impressive, the LE and Struts aren't the key areas that generally suffer durability issues. The canopy is really the area on a kite that benefits from stronger ripstop, etc. From a price to weight perspective, focusing on lighter bladder materials and other design characteristics offer huge rewards at prices that are tolerable. In any case, it's great to see new and better materials like Aluula and Nano Ripstop raising the bar. I"m sure that with the massive growth in wing that suppliers will continue to push innovation. It's a good time to be a kiter!
