Watches...

Postby TheJoe » Mon May 03, 2021 4:45 pm

So yesterday I had a pretty good crash and lost my cheap fossil watch. Just curious as to what people are using to keep it from happening. Thinking of buying a Garmin but not going to do that if it is going end up at the bottom of the drink.

Casio aq 160 is what I use good to 10 bar. Never lost a watch to the ocean but lost 4 gopro's over the years ago I'm good at losing things. I think you just got really unlucky or the watch band was crap and broke. I'm thinking it's cheap so the band was just no good.

Apple 3 with SIM for calling Mrs to say I will late or call RNLI
Velcro loop strap
Wear under rash sleeve, under wetsuit sleeve
Ensure a little rash sleeve is exposed from under the wetsuit, then it’s easy to pull back the wetsuit to see the screen
Not going suit everyone, but has worked for last 2 years.

I use a NATO strap now after losing a decent watch. As for the watch I'm using a Timex I got on sale for $15 because it had an ugly yellow strap (which I replaced with the NATO strap). Still going strong after 3 years with only a battery change. The strap actually cost me more than the watch at $18.

The key to the NATO strap is both pins have to fail for you to lose the watch.

Actually I was thinking of cutting an old wetsuit to make a sleeve to cover the watch with. I'm thinking that will be my best option. Would be great if some one was all ready selling them.

It might have been. I did have a red mark where the watch was after the crash so it was a good one.

Bored at work so I found these. Think I'll give them a try.

Apple Watch 3 with a Catalyst Case. The Catalyst Case rocks - makes it more waterproof and no chance it's coming off.

Catalyst Case broke for me - the case itself cracked and watch fell out. Still have that broken case though

Over 3 years and still going strong for me. How exactly did you manage to break it?
