What bar size do you run?

Postby mitchell898 » Tue May 04, 2021 5:45 pm

I'm thinking of consolidating to one bar for all my kites. I really like my small duotone bar (not sure the exact size) and going back to my 45-55 navigator feels like a tank. My thought was - with a small bar, tricks that take a lot of kite control are easier because you're adjustments aren't as exaggerated (I struggle keeping minimal steering when doing big inverted frontrolls) BUT, you can still put in plenty of steering if you're working the kite or looping. It seems to me the convienience of having a single bar outweighs the benefit of slightly easier steering on big kites with a big bar. What do you guys run??

Running smallest navigator bar on everything from 8 to 15. Coming from shortened ~14" slingshot bar tho. No issues looping 8/10 and if its 12 weather im not doing much big air/loops anyway, actually prefer the feeling of bigger kites with small bar due to 'cable' like feeling. Guess it depends on your riding style.

I use Ozone 50cm bars with 25m lines with everything. The only exception is that I occasionally use an Ozone 55cm bar for large kites in very light winds only because it has 27m lines, not because of the bar length.

Short.

Personally happy to sacrifice big kites altogether. On anything from 10m down... short bars rock.

I've never understood the need for multiple bars. Every size of bar works for me on every size of kite.
A bar is way too expensive (for what it's worth) for me to have multiple of them.

But that aside, I like bigger bars. It makes the kite feel more snappy for me.

I have dozens of bars but I think 50cm would work from 7m to 12m reasonably well I would only go bigger for very big kites like 15m or 17m!

Imo that's a bad idea. I've tried and accepted having two bars is the way to go. MacKite has a decent vid about this

I used to have a second bar with long lines installed on it, but it was the same length bar
