north reach or pulse?

Postby Laz92 » Fri May 14, 2021 5:50 pm

hi,
i m looking for a new kite , i think i will move from cabrinha to north.
i m not sure about wich north kite is batter for me.
At the moment i can do some basic trick and basic kiteloop, but nothing unhooked yet.
What would you recommend? north Reach or Pulse? is the pulse just for unhooked freestyle ?

i usually ride a switchblade but when i do some kiteloop i feel to much power so i think is batter to avoid the north orbit.

thanks for your help :D

I actually own both, and personally switched from Cabrinha (mostly) to North. The Reach is for sure the best all-arounder I've ridden. It loops great, actually unhooks quite well, and is very fun to ride. Personally, I'd choose a Reach over a Pulse (and I do spend a considerable amount of time in boots and unhooking) just for it's ability to do anything, and do it quite well. The Pulse is supposed to be more of their freestyle kite, but I think the Reach does most of what the Pulse can do (to a certain extent), with the exception of some higher level unhooked stuff. If you get a chance, be sure to try a Reach - I'm sure you'll be stoked!

Hello could you comment on the low end of the reach? Thanks!

My experience with the Reach is that it does not like to be flown towards the low end of its range, where it tends to stall. It does much better in the high end of its range.

Literally 20 mins after first time trying my 11m Reach. It is 12-18knots atm. I'm pleasantly surprised. Did not do any unhook, but it is very very nice kite. Jumps well, responds well, drifts well and etc. Love it!

With 75kilos I can start riding the 12m Reach V1 with the Atmos in 11 knots and I fly it up to 25knots.
On the foil I use the 12m from 8 knots. No stalling over here. When the wind goes down under 8 knots, it can backstall a bit. Never Frontstellung. But that’s good for foiling, because if the wind goes down to 5/6 at my local spots, I am able to bring it up again when it backstalls just with depowering or turning on the point.
When coming from the Switchblade, take the Reach. Impressive Allrounder!!

If you are looking for a nice easy going loop, then get the Reach Kites. They have a nice progressive power buildup in the loop and give you a really safe feeling.

You can see how they loop here:
