Flysurfer Sonic 3 collaps

Postby Mkr » Sat May 29, 2021 8:57 pm

Hello,

I kitesurf with a sonic 3 18m. Today somebody parked his kite in my Flysurfer. After I fixed my lines I continued my session. After 5 minutes my flysurfer suddenly collapsed more then ones . Somebody knows what might be the problem? The wind was okay. I had doughts about de defloat. Maybe I did not close the velcro strap good enough, but does the flysurfer colapse then?

Check bridles very very very carefully . Had this happen to two different Sonics and both times it was simply a knot tied in one of the bridle lines that was very hard to see

^^^ Exactly. The Sonic3 is VERY sensitive with its bridle and a small knot could cause this behavior. Also it could be a broken bridle line as well. I'd carefully check every bridle line for damage or knots.

Thanks for the replies.all the lines looks good. I checked everything. I think I will bring it to an expert. Is it possible that the Flysurfer collapse because the defloat was not closed good enough?

You mean the butthole? It might but I highly doubt it. Close it up good and check it out. If it was a REALLY hard crash, you might have some internal problems but that would have to be a huge impact. I'm still counting on a bridle problem, something just doesn't suddenly happen.

I agree with the advice to look for a pressure knot. The other thing to check are the pulleys. Make sure that they are working properly. Also check that you do not have a slightly tangled bridle.

How did you repair the broken bridle line? If knotted together it is a few cm shorter and can cause problems. Especially when combined with an open valve and heavy wet kite it will definitely be more sensitive to collapsing.

Another kite crashed in my lines. All my lines were messed up. After 30 minutes I took out all the knots. I was happy and continued my session. Everything looked oké, but after 5 minutes the kite suddenly collapsed. It felt like the wind came suddenly from a different direction. I kept the kite in the air, but it was not possible to fill the kite with enough air, so I had to land. Again I checked and started again with a new session. With the same problem.
Maybe I was to focussed for a problem with the kite and maybe forgot to close the butthole. After the last session I saw that there was an small opening, but can that affect this behaviour. Anyway, I want to be sure that there is no problem after the crash, so tomorrow I bring it to an expert who will check bridles, lines, cells etc.
