It feels heavy ?

Do you feel that ?

When I kite with just shorts, and I start dry and crash and then it is wet ... 0 difference for me.

Shorts over wetsuit is out! It’s just is. Did it for years, but have come around. Think it looks kook as shit now. But then again, tons of kiteboarding is kook as shit. I mean…… Mateo V !!! There is no doubt about it. Kiteboarding is chock full of kook. Always has been. But Cool or fashion or “in” has also always been a thing, and always will be. I love getting a laugh out of the “fashion” of my youth. Feel my sense of style on what I find appealing is ever evolving. It’s also a trade off between with both comfort and function. I wear a helmet but it’s a very particular helmet with many before it that didn’t last for fit or fashion reasons.

Let it be known that shorts over a shortie… no problem, but full length wetsuit. Nope. I feel confident in speaking for the entire sport when I say. We’ve moved past that.

yes, confident also in say "we moved past now and all go wingsurfing" ....

everyone do like they prefer.

You for sure are not speaking ever for the entire sport. No one ever should.

Here, wearing board shorts over your wetsuit is like a mullet. It does not only look utterly stupid but it´s also a good indication that you haven´t done any kiting in the past 5 years, so it´s better to keep a good distance.

Ha haa, spot on cor, the good thing about boardshorts on the extreme rare occasions you spot some wearing these over their wetsuit - is we all have a good long laugh ROFL :greenlaugh:

It WAS stupid, and IS still stupid, and makes no sense...
Eventhough many of us for a short period was so stupid we did it ourselves - little did we know, just "fashion" addicted ha haa :naughty:
Luckily we got wiser in a few years :thumb:

Only thing even worse, was the kitepants

Still like the feeling of the Dakine Nitrous harness/shorts instead of a full seat harness. Had to wear one for quite some time after a rib injury, and it wasn't toooooo bad.
And I still wear board shorts when I wear a shorty. Mostly for sun protection of my virgin white mid-thigh skin.

There's one area where shorts do actually protect the wetsuit, it is the inner thighs/crotch area, when untangling your lines, walking front lines inside your legs, steering lines outside. My boardshorts used to have some wear on the seam, and most of my wetsuits require some patching there eventually.

In the wakeboarding world, I definitely prefer the style of baggy boardshorts with boots than shiny bum.

Buddy of mine likes riding naked, that is till his ass had a run in with his foil, trashed his wetsuit and cut his ass all up. I'm old school always wear board shorts, it helps with diaper rash, I ride with a Seat harness, the shorts makes the harness less glued to my wetsuit.

I love you man, but you gotta just embrace it. Seat harness! OMG. that shit is geriatric in its very mission statement.

No people, men, women, you know, others! whoever, I don't really give a shit. Lets not burry this sport in meme eternity.

Wear the minimum and most streamline possible numbers of layers to do this sport is a seriously bad ass fashion.

With a few exceptions, I'm in board shorts every day for almost a month now, and I won't have to worry about how fancy I look for at least another 4 months....

the wet shorts will hold more water. (more water than you would be carrying with wetsuit)

i can't say i "feel" while kiting... but absolutely there is a weight difference between a pair of wet baggy shorts and nothing at all

This board-short-over-wetsuit business is just a stupid American cultural phenomen. Americans are extremely shy and they feel naked in wetsuit only. (They also have an inferiority complex and buy all kinda very affective creams from the net and while waiting for the guaranteed results they put on boardshorts) Let them have it but don't copy it. All the fake explanations of the practicality of this are laughable and miserable.
