Big soft foot straps?

Postby Toby » Thu Jun 24, 2021 1:59 pm

I am running out of foot straps...they get used a lot in my world of riding :-)

I am searching for straps which I can make really high...imagine size 47 (13) with thick neoprene shoes...that big!

Must be soft inside, no hard plastic.

I used old Flysurfer ones (from 2012, I assume was changed in 2016 or so), but the new ones are not good.

So, any tip of ones you use that are like I want, are highly appreciated.

Here mine after some months of use....

I believe flysurfer are using the yeti kiteboarding footstraps but rebrand them. Yeti also offers XL size models, if you check in ebay sometimes pads and straps combo can be found for around 60 euros in ebay.

I made my own non adjustable straps with seatbelt strap, some EVA workout mat, and swimsuit material to wrap.

It's nice to have a 1950's sewing machine to sew the loops in the straps for the hold down bars at each end of the strap, but after that for sewing through the thick foam and swimsuit material, it's all hand sewing.

These straps dont break, and you can refurbish the outer material since the seatbelt webbing never wears out.

Just a side note if you want to skip the padding, DONT! I "rearranged" some of my foot bones playing around with some thin straps. I wanted thin straps that I could step on top of them when I was doing strapless freestyle. It worked until I was riding fast on the outside with them. Cost me a week of prime season kiting.

Yeah, I can get some for you as I have half built ones in a kit, and all the materials. Gimme a few days, but I will post back here.

Thx for the offer to help.

Yes, the hard plastic inside is a no go ..... Tried already several different ones, but gives me lots of pain.

Maybe sewing some Lycra around will make it softer...but prefer to buy something ready...

Have you tried NSI Proton strap? Not sure how large a foot it will take.

I saw them, looks very soft indeed, but unfortunately also very small.
Anyone who has them can comment on it?

They make them right in the store to order so maybe if you contact them they can custom make them to whatever size you want? Worth a message to see.
