variable stopper options

I am a big fan of variable stoppers on my kite bars so I dont have to hold the bar at all times. I have it on an old Naish and Slingshot bar. Both bars have the depower on the QR which allows the wedging of the two lines running through the bar as a variable stopper. Now I want to add it to my other bars with only one center main line through the bar. I only have a really old clamp from back in the days pre-Epic kiteboarding - but that thing is lousy. What options do I have? G

If it's a non-PU covered single line (center main line), then this may work. In fact, it may be your only option.

If the line is PU covered, Duotone has one on their Click bar and it's available to purchase as a replacement. Ocean Rodeo has one on their Stick Shift bar, but it does not look like it's available to purchase separately. However the Duotone line I recall being square shape, so theirs may not fit nor work. The OR I'm not sure what size line their stopper accommodates.

Thanks for the link. That’s the Eclipse stopper that I have. I was hoping for something better like the OR design or so.

Depends if you want to adjust its position while riding or if you just want to limit the throw of the bar to your max reachable height, but back in 2006, there was a pretty elegant stopper design on the GK Sonic bars. The center line was essentially a long single depower line made out of 6mm or 8mm braided spectra. And you could insert inside the braid a plastic bullet shaped part, which would make the line thicker, and therefore lock a plastic ball. Plastic insert could be moved up and down inside the braid when there was no tension on that line (i.e. on the beach). And, since that long depower central line was also your safety, you could still push harder through that stopper if required. It was more designed for letting go of the bar when unspinning, rather than for really locking the bar up for no handed tricks... With a separate flag out line, you could have a stronger locking system.

Maybe Spinlocks could work? Specifically model PXR0206 (2-6mm line) or PXR0810 (8-10mm line).

+1 for the adjustable stopper on the OR Shift bar, it works really well.

I used the spinlock for many years, works brilliantly, remember when kites pulled like a rhino, with no chance of holding the bar in as the wind picked up? old C kites were murder on your arms, but the spinlock was the answer, lasts forever, I sold a bar with one on in early 2000, he still uses that bar today 17 years later, loves it on his heavy bar pressure kites.
