Jumps don't count unless you stick the landing

Postby edt » Mon Jul 19, 2021 2:35 pm

Who is with me here? I see all these woo records but I figure if you crash the landing you aren't allowed to count the jump. Prove me wrong! If you jump a pier only get half way end up in the ambulance that doesn't count as a pier jump. If you climb everest die at the top that's not a successful climb. Then why count woo jumps where it's just a huge crash and yard sale instead of a solid landing.

Until Woo adds a “Landing Score” or similar you always will be left wondering who actually landed their big boosts on the leaderboard. But I agree with you, KOTA rules apply. No landing, no credit.

Although, I am beginning to soften a little on airtime. If you can stay up for 10 seconds plus, a teabag landing is more permissible.

But as always: No grab, no glory! :D

How do you feel about a small "butt-check" on the landing but still riding away?
What about landing cleanly but crashing shortly after - say 20 or 30m later (the type of thing that happens when you look down at your board to check the height you just jumped and plow into some chop) ?

Or does the landing have to be completely dry? We need clearly defined criteria here. :D

Butt checks crashes later that's all fine. I'm just talking about crashing so hard it registers on the ritcher scale. I've seen some of those Woosters crash they can come down really hard because they don't care how or even if they land it

No way….

Track and Field High jump rules count….
They are always crashing hard on their back….. because they are wimps they even need a soft Matraze!!

Na…. In kiting: the task is getting as high as possible!
No need to get extra points for a clean landing….

Kota: task is to get high and land safe! Different thing.

Now I finally have my personal excuse, not being able to jump 42,76 meters high…. I want to land with a clean stylish landing…. :jump: :jump: :jump:

You did reach the height, even if you crash.

I agree !

anything crashed or butt checked is not landed.

See all my trick videos on www.strictlyhooked.com ... all landed ! I would betray myself if I would claim tricks landed and didn't really.

Same should count for Woo !

I am with.
It's just a definition.

That said, if you jump a pier and land on it you can say you literally jumped a pier. The same thing for an Everest climb...definitely a successful climb, you just didn't descend successfully.

I disagree, I think there's a difference.

Jump height is a stand alone figure that only technique and power can generate. A failure to ride away doesn't make the jump any less high.

A 'trick' that isn't landed, isn't a trick. Board-offs, grabs, inversions, rotations all need to be "finished" with a landing.

Must be 100% landed, the same with Freestyle.
