Note: no more cars allowed to drive at Cauipe Lagoon, Cumbuco, Brazil

Been great time when you could drive directly at the lagoon, and park your car next to the kiting spot.

These times are over...police controls it and will fine you.

You have to park downwind, and walk to where you want to set up your kite.

Sad, but better for nature...too much garbage has been left at the beach. Say thanks to those idiots.

Nice glass bottle! They will get broken in the sand eventually, so good luck.

But yeah, in the midwestern US, population growth from those fleeing the larger cities, along with other groups, are really trashing our places up. Locals are by no means innocent, but have really improved in the last 30 years. Still, there is just no way to keep up with the trash dumped by newcomers to local public beaches.

But Toby, if you are asking for others to be conscientious........................

Funny thing is that the glass bottle will simply return to glass over a few years and they are actually helpful to marine life.

All that plastic on the other hand is a real problem.

Since we are on the pollution topic, i recently watched a documentary called seaspiracy. In short it describes the damage and pollution caused by fishing. Very remarkably in one point said " the oil spill in golf of Mexico actually had benefited the ecosystem and fish population grew, as people stopped fishing there for a while." Crazy..

Anyway, it was quite eye-opening for me as i was not exactly aware of the issue and the scale of it.

But people who leave trash behind leave me very confused. Its just not...right..

Being conscientious isn't viewed as being "cool".

The number one trait of a self aspiring "bad a--" is to "not give a f--k".

Case in point - A friend of mine introduced me to a guy that would not pick up his dog's waste. This guy was a good kiter and previously a windsurfer. But this complete disregard for others was his true claim to fame. Public park, windsurf/kite rigging area, or even the sandbox at a kids playground.... he would refuse to pick it up even if confronted.

And don't think you are innocent of this. All of us to some degree are often times less than conscientious willingly, unwillingly, or by intentional self deception.

I'm not necessarily confused by this, it's just some of the darker parts of the diversity that exist in the human psyche. The only thing you can really do about it is to gently nudge a tiny number of humans out of that dark, toward the light.

I'm not sure if it's because of the constant wind but trash is not the worst thing at Cauipe in my opinion. Yes, there's trash, mainly concentrated at the inland part of the lagoon close to the water -- where is hard to clean because the trash mixes with water, grass, etc...

The worst thing at Cauipe is the extremely loud sound during weekends, when the lagoon is a public beach and besides the kitesurf's crowd, there's also a bunch of locals. People park their cars close to the water, open the trunk and plays music really loud. It's a complete mess.

Cauipe is probably the most crowded kitesurf spot in the world but I love Cumbuco. You can breathe kitesurf 24/7

Toby when I was there about a month ago was just not alou to go to cauipe during weekends, weekdays was all fine.
They were closing not because of the kites but because of the number of cars with music (paredao) and huge crowds limiting that because of the cor9na, I believe it might come back

It won't.
There is a big project for Cauipe.
They just did the road from the main road...
