+1 for XRs
I started on SB’s, but immediately switched after trying XR’s-just like the feel.
Very well suited to gusty inland lakes. The are just all round smoother and easier to launch, fly & jump at our level. Not proclaiming any real skill.
Interestingly, when we head to places with smoother wind, we often find ourselves running slightly larger kites than locals (of similar skill) with 3 struts, just because we are used to strong gusts and enjoy being powered up with the XRs.
Can’t speak to the other brands / models.

It's not only sbout the kite. It's sbout the settings.
Bridle settings will increase/decrease bar depower range.
I it's gusty I prefer more bar depower range to absorb the gusts and have a smother ride.

They'd never admit it, but the deafing silence from the foil-kite pushers is insightful. I have 2 x souls but hate them in gusts, but seem to recall claims about good in gusts - maybe wrong.
Clearly not otherwise they'd be hear plugging away.
My favourite kite in the gusts is either a 5 line 2016 rebel as the loaded front line is amazing or neo or evo. I have a enduro 9m but not tried it out yet so can't comment. Looks like the LEI have it.

I think the peak crowd just figure this thread is a non foiling question.
If you mean to include foiling………..

Hallo guys, I would like to change my kite (RRD Passion 10.5m 2019, 3 strut kite) and want to buy (same wind range 12-26knts)a new kite for very gusty conditions (10-20knts...or 15-30knts).
Can you please tell me what characteristics I must search for?..I would like an RRD kite but every proposal is welcome
P.S...just riding, no jumps yet ..53years old, 1 year kiter..25 years windsurfer
Hi there, may I ask where you got your RRD from? I'm looking for a 10.5 un the US and don't seem to find it. Either new or used.
Thanks

The XRs are good in the gusts because of having 6 pulleys

+1 for XRs, coming from a 3 strut kite, especially seen a huge difference on stronger days with my smallest kite (7m on 30+ knot days).
