Fake Counterfeit Tennis Raquets

Postby alfredo68 » Tue Jul 27, 2021 7:15 pm

Being said there are many fake counterfeit tennis raquets , originals made in china and the fake ones made in china also. Nearly imposible to see differences in between them in terms of cosmethics and quality but yes when they are weighted, checked their balance and of course playing with them. Be aware!!
Was wondering if this might reach the kite market or doesn t have a volumen big enough to be attractive for this "nice" people who does this.
Apparently fake raquets are sold on ebay , don t think some one buys a kite there too

There have already been quite a few examples of copies and shit kites from China. I do think many of the brands have small labels that get sewn into their real kites.

If you buy from a reputable shop who has a relationship with major kite companies you're safe.

I have seen a lot of generic Chinese kite accessories with no branding on them like foils that look almost identical to major brands and even kites and wings that look similar. Plenty of them on eBay or AliExpress. It could be they are the same made in the same factory but they could be second grade items with defects from major brands or just pure knockoffs with shoddy quality.

The prices of most of these are still pretty high when you factor in shipping customs and everything so personally I don't think it's worth taking a chance.

It's not unusual on AliExpress or AliBaba for the sellers to use photos of other products to push their own shit. Using "Cabrinha Switchblade" in the description is next level though...

Here's one example amongst many others: using a HB Flair 4.0 to illustrate their knockoff wing. Pretty sure the HB is made in Vietnam, while that manufacturer is based in China.
https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/ ... 6377E1r6NK

Details of construction also are very different between the HB and their own, but I guess it doesn't really matter to any of them. They don't really have a clue nor a hint of ethics in their marketing... I don't know how anyone could be fooled into believing this is the same, or just a color/graphics change.

The good thing about AliExpress is that there is some solid buyer protection scheme, and if the received item isn't really as described (apart from very minor details), it's pretty easy to get your money back. (and the vendors absolutely hate not to get a 5 stars feedback).

On the other hand, there are some genuine OEM companies trying to push their own brands (https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/ ... 4386EfiLLz) , without really stealing anything in terms of external imagery, and without being a complete knockoff and I guess it's kind of OK. You'd expect to get a product that is cheaper, that is not at the forefront of the R&D in the sport, and just a case of you get what you paid for. If that's what you want...

Like the OP said - there's not enough volume with kiting gear to justify faking, however - there were some examples of shady sellers in Asia where you get brand new gear straight from factory "through a guy who knows a guy" - where the actual gear is QC rejects which some crafty employees are smuggling out to make a few bucks. Your millage could vary, but we've seen some brand new kites which were cork-screwing once pumped up fully.

Supporting those Chinese platforms is like digging the grave for our local shops and sellers. You shouldn´t do it!
I applause if buyers are cheated. Will probably help to sustainably reduce the number of customers.
