Kite GPS for Garmin Watches

Kite GPS.jpg

The new Kite GPS by WOO Sports app enables your Garmin Watch to track and save your kite session's GPS. It will display speed metrics like speed live, max speed and 30 sec max and give you helpful information right on your wrist. This includes a live GPS Map, your distance to origin as well as information on your health status and calorie usage.

The GPS recording will show up and be ready to save on your (free) WOO Smartphone App, enabling you to keep a record of your adventures and share them with your friends and family!

Read more on how to set it up on https://docs.woosports.com/docs/garmin-read-me-first

or check the Garmin Store to try it out: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/fc9b ... d5a2bbb2#0

This was a huge effort by our developers, and we’re beyond excited to finally share the result. So many people have asked for it and we could finally deliver, just in time for the upcoming Team Total Distance discipline in the WOO Worlds as well!

We hope you enjoy and feel free to post any questions you might have.

We hope for wind soon so you can check it out!

In the meantime, this is how easy it is to upload GPS sessions (recorded on "Kite GPS") from your Garmin to the WOO app, as soon as your accounts are set up and connected (Garmin Connect IQ and WOO account, as described in link further up). :thumb:

@Woo worlds

Any plans to use the watch's GPS data on Pro Analytics+ instead of having to ride with the cellphone with us?

As of September 2021, the Garmin integration indeed only supports Freeride sessions (GPS only). However, we are working on integration with WOO sessions and this will be available soon!

So yes, this is our plan and we are working on it! :thumb:

Hope this helped!

We're not sure we understand your question correctly but both the Kite GPS Garmin app and the WOO Mobile Phone app are free to download and use!

We're also not selling your Kite sessions GPS points to other companies if data privacy is your concern

let me see if I understood it correctly. We can now leave our Woo sensor at home and record freeride sessions only using our Garmin watches. Big air sessions will keep requiring the sensor (of course  ).

Thus, at least in theory, we can now record a session as big air (using the sensor) and freestyle (using the watch) at the same time, right?!

Yes, that is correct!

Freeride (GPS) sessions can be created and saved by only using your android/iOS Phone, your Apple Watch and, now NEW, your Garmin Watch. For everything you want to be recorded that stretches beyond GPS, e.g. your jump height or your landing force, you will continue to need the WOO sensor.

And you are right, you can record a big air session using the sensor and a freeRIDE one using the watch at the same time. What you currently cannot do, but soon will be able to, is fuse those two sessions (like already possible with the apple watch + WOO). This will open up an array of exciting new possibilities.

This App, however, is the first big step into the right direction and we are very proud of the work our developers have put into it and the results we can share.

If you want to try it out and see for yourself, we are happy to hear your feedback! :bye:

Prefer not to have to log anything through Woo if I am honest.

Given the historic variations with height data achieved over multiple woo units and different versions why would you (as a customer) want to log accurate track data for speed etc through Woo?

If the garmin is doing the recording and there are multiple free sites that you can log and analyse the data with already why have to go through Woo?

If it’s to create you own league table etc then fine just say so. Just make it accurate and to an existing metric
