So the the spec on the new north orbit 2022 is out and live.
They look like the same dull same colours as last year from the sites. Still basic d2 material as well for an extra £10 price rise?
Few briddle tweaks. Bit disappointing really.after the long wait. Hopefully the review in the air will be better.

Similar colours and design. When I first saw them, I thought they looked like they took leftover fabric from the previous 2020 and 2021 kites and used that (obviously not the yellow/blue). I'm not disappointed, since I like the previous generations' designs and don't really care much about looks. Obviously subjective though.
Dunno on the performance aspect. I haven't tested it, but from what I heard on the beach, it's extremely similar. Basic iterative design changes to make it more accessible to more riders. Slightly better barfeel and a little more stable. Once lockdown is over, I'll steal one and let you know what I think. Personally, I don't think they really need to change much, so not disappointed there either.

D2 still really?.
Must be the only brand still using this material.
For a big air looping kite.

Was there some change/improvement you were hoping for? The design seemed already pretty good.
I expect 2022 is going to be pretty much just tweaks for most kites. I think the only (relatively) big leap forward left in kites is going to be lighter materials. Every industry reaches a point of maturity when the improvements each year are minor or just cosmetic (skis, snowboards, bikes, etc). I feel like kiting is reaching that point.

No surprise to me. It's still a fairly new kite. My guess is that they are already working with other materials and that the next version will be different.
Anyone know the weight of the bladder? 17% reduction I guess wouldn't be many grams? The current marketing isn't exactly sexy for the 2022, but I honestly couldn't care less if it was either.

It's not new?
Obviously I like that new materials are being tested and developed, but sometimes it seems like new material is being used just for the sake of using a new material.

D2 is not D2.
But there are other brands out there. For example F-One

Anyone with a well informed guess what the "New lightweight N-75 construction" is?
My thoughts are - a 75gsm ripstop i/o dacron in TE/tips.
