Everything you want is on the other side of Fear.

What does it take to let go of fear? To commit to the unknown? At North we believe the magnetic pull – for freedom, for letting go of yourself and merging with the power of the elements, for performance, for exhilaration – overcomes fear. This pull calls to us again and again. And we’ve responded in 2022 with bold new designs, engineered to harness the power of the elements.

In stores now, the new Big Air collection and Trace Lightwind TwinTip are master-crafted to have your back when nature won’t play nice.

What’s new:

ORBIT Big Air / Freeride

Seriously Light, Extreme Height.
For 2022 we’ve made small refinements to the bridle and further reduced the weight of the Orbit with N-FORCE 75 reinforcement and lighter weight bladders, so the kite feels even lighter and more responsive in all conditions.
SIZES: 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14

Now ISO Certified.
The 2022 Navigator now complies with ISO 21853 for faster, safer release and intuitive single-action reload in all conditions. Five new Toolless Interloops complete the modular system, allowing riders to switch effortlessly between disciplines simply by swapping out the loop – no tools required.
SIZES: 38-43, 45-50, 50-55 cm

TRACE Lightwind / Freeride *BRAND NEW FOR 2022

First in. Last Out.
With phenomenal pop and surprising manoeuvrability for its size, the all-new Trace has a large surface area for early planing and upwind performance in the lightest winds. It’s Centre-V Spine and longitudinal quad channels provide balanced torsional stiffness, traction and control, while the medium-low rocker is ideal for flatwater.
SIZES: 145x45, 145x46 cm

Brand Director Mike Raper is excited by the new range: “At North, we are all inspired by the power of the elements, and how when you work with each element, rather than resist it, it takes your performance and experience to a whole other level,” he says.

“Our 2022 Range draws inspiration from the unbreakable bond between the elements and our tribe, and while we continue to be led by nature, this year we’ve really pushed the envelope with technology and performance. I’m proud of the relentless evolution and incremental improvements we’re seeing across the range. And I’m also excited to see how our team rider feedback loop has become such an integral part of the design process.”

The 2022 Big Air collection is in store and available to demo at your local North Kiteboarding retailer now.

Stay tuned for our Surf and Strapless Freestyle launch in October 2021, then Freeride, Freestyle and Foil in March 2022.

"so the kite feels even lighter and more responsive in all conditions."

Who cares about "feels", is it REALLY lighter compared to the Orbit v1? Unfortunately, the only kite brand that I know of that actually provides the weight statistics on their kites is CrazyFly. The NK website doesn't state any weight specifications, so there's no way to know unless you own both the v1 and v2 in the same size and weigh it with a scale.

Just FYI: Ocean Rodeo and Duotone also have the kite weights on their site. There might be more, did not check them all.

I might be obsessed with this point, but for me, the left part of a bar should be RED!!!! Not blue, not grey, not yellow......... just RED !
It should be a standard among all the brands.

I didn't think about it before now, but I always liked the main colours from North, but I hated the contrast. The 2021 Blue Orbit looks smashing except for the yellow contrast colour. I see they have changed that for the 2022 version. Personally I think the Orbit 2022 Green looks brilliant. I much prefer the toned down text rather than the Red on Green. The new Blue is also a lot cooler without the Yellow on Blue (in my opinion).

💯 %. Correct:

I have three bars:

the only one that I regular grab on the wrong side is light blue on the right and a blue on the left side …..

oh no… wait, it’s the other way around
Light blue left and
blue right.

Best thing is: when wet the light blue is more like a normal blue.

The other two bars are bright orange left. Don’t even know the other color…
