Had my RE harness now for 13 months (60+ sessions) I'm pleased to report no sign of cracking on the opening/closing buckle also no sign of wear on the straps where the second buckle closes. After opening/closing the harness, it creates a smal crack that quickly enlarge.
I was very interested in this harness, but regarding the number of riders that had the problem, I may choose another brand.

More plastic to hang your life on. No back up if one side opens. But looks good.

My girlfriend has the new bar, only complaint is that she knocks her elbows on the buckle clip base and gets bruises.

The mega pad is a big improvement. I had take the old pad off because it would dig into my ribs. The mega pad makes it a lot more comfortable over the old non padded pad of pain.
I'm an early adaptor of the Unity system and not a sign of cracking on the spreader bar. Not to say it has not happened there could have been a bad batch of spreaders sent out.
