repair inner sole neoprene boots

I have a pair of neoprene boots, I bought them last year and used them about 15 times.
As you can see the inner sole of the boots are damaged at the heel.
Luckily this was refunded at my local store.

I however still have the boots lying around.
They are still water tight, only the feeling in the heel is hard, as the neoprene is gone there...

I would like to give it a shot and try to repair them myself.
Would this be possible? How would I tackle this?

I did a repair on a boot like that with a bit of EVA foam. I used aquasure/marine goop. The key to a good finish was to clamp it between two small bits of wood while it dried.

Cobblers! I mean a cobbler may have a suitable heel insert that you can just glue in if you are lucky.

EBay has got silicone inserts etc.
