Shinn Bronq 2021 has flex rating of 5, 2020 was rating 4, not at all stiff..the opposite:

Have you checked your stance?

Shape is also a factor. Litewave Kick-S and Ocean Rodeo Mako both have little flex but are super smooth in chop....both have radical concave.

Yes that! My knee got better after i moved the pads together a bit and made sure my knees bend in line with my feet. It tuned out i pulled my rear knee in too much.

Mostly riding on a chop. Changed NHP for Shinn Ronson with significant relief. However wave and foil would be my 60+ future.

Imho stance depends a lot on ankle, knee and hip joint alignment. The old small jump of a curb to see how you land etc. Recently I looked at a few YouTube vids on ideal squat position and they were doing seated checks on hip/head of femur rotation which were quite interesting. Ducks and pigeons were quite different…………..

The affect of the board on knees is a combination of pads straps, stance, shape of the board and flex. A high end carbon board can have amazing flex so it’s not about carbon or not, rather construction, shape and flex.

I would say if you want a good board for chop, waves and general riding then the ‘Mako’ shape is worth trying. I have a Nomad wave which is same shape but standard fins and customisable flex and it’s easily my favourite board ever.
