Harness with quick release?

Postby kitenight11 » Mon Oct 04, 2021 11:06 pm

Hi,
I was lately wondering why no brand is designing a harness with quick release system as last option to get rid of the whole stuff?
While riding I sometimes recognize my "below the bar" trim rope wraped around the hook or sliding-rope or safety leash. And I heard of stories of lines get tangled around the hook when slack. In these cases the safety leash ejection wouldn't help, right?
So why does no brand invest in this feature?

Hi the mystic krs releasable hook came out a few years back.
Did not get market adhesion.
Long before there was the slingshot surefire hook.
It has been discussed on several threads of the forum.
I am guessing once the whole kite market has stabilized aroud a solution it is hard to change.
The infexion quick release exists and is attached to the harness, not the bar, can be atrached without hook.

If you don't unhook, go hookless. Could that help? Several brands have a dedicated Freeride spreader bar that's sans a hook. The Inflexion QR combined with a Freeride spreader could be a nice set-up for simplicity and safety.
Have you considered going with an adjustable above-the-bar control bar to eliminate any rope or line tangling issues?

Get rid of the hook and have above the bar trim. Simples.

I would say all spreader bars that have a buckle like the Mystic stealth spreader bar have kind of a quick release. It might not be as fast as the quick release on your kite, but once I open the buckle I'm pretty sure my harness goes away if the pull from the kite is strong enough. A lot of harnesses have this kind of closing/opening buckle nowadays.

Hope I never need it, but if shit hits the fan...

Cheers

Hi,
thanks for your reply, but I was asking for harnesses not bar constructikns, or did I miss something?

Prolimit's harness spreader bar is the best I've seen for both speed and ease of ditching/removing, but you'd still need to un-velcro the security belt like any other brand.
