Ralf "Groesel grossly" exaggerates the performance of his 15 meter kite in 4.6 miles per hour !!!

There is simply not enough JUICE to pull on the lines and then a person.

Fake news.

If Airush could use Aluula will be the perfect ultra light wind kite. IMO. ( perhaps a 13m will be perfect).
Airush is launching a new "Ultra" with their own light material from Ho'okipa :
https://www.thekiteboarder.com/2021/09/ ... -previews/
It seems to be very close from Aluula.
An Ultra without pulleys will not be an Ultra for hydrofoiling, Ultra team Hookipa looks more like a wave kite hence the Hookipa, that's why they are keeping the classic Ultra.
Airush, foilers need a 13m with a significant weight reduction and a bit faster so it would replace the 12m and 14m.

Seems to be pretty much the same description as Cuben Fibre material.
Wonder if they got those issues solved.

Hookipa is the name is the material named by the vendor (just like aluula). It has nothing to do with the type of kite it is.
I would assume it’s aimed at hydrofoiling since those would benefit the most from the light weight which will, no doubt, come at a premium price. No clue why you would think that would be impossible without having pulleys.

Cuban was a film laminated to regular Dacron?

Hookipa cloth appears to be woven from recycled plastics

So in that regards more like aluula or pentatx

About "Hookipa", Its a woven mixture of UHMWPE and recycled PET with a thin film on top. The film is such thin that its arguably a laminate or a woven cloth. Anyway, similar indeed to Aluula.

The Ultra has 4 pulleys that make its pull progressive, similar to a foil, also pivots on its axis, has good upwind qualities, with a race bar you can take out the last knot above and below, the last thing I want is a kite with on/off power.
To drift well in waves the lighter the better.

The claim was the strongest material so I guess stronger than aluula?

Ocean Rodeo - Flite A-Series

12m: 2,3kg
14.5m: 2,5kg
17m: 2,6kg

Duotone - Juice DLab

13m: 2,73kg (0,23kg heavier than 14.5m Flite)
15m: 3,07 (0,47kg heavier than 17m Flite)

There must have something wrong or Duotone should learn with Ozone and Ocean Rodeo how to make lightweight kites :D

Well this is all very interesting but those in the know will agree with me that the best kites all have at least 5 struts.
