And my answer to any answers posted would be
If you want to kite that badly,
MOVE
It's alright for you living by the Gorge. For the rest of us moving isn't always an option. Moving removes many of the social connections (parents/friends etc) that may rely on us or that we rely on.

Thats also assuming that we can even get a Visa to live in any of the near by countries that are more windy.

It can be done, and very satisfying

That's pretty impressive. I can't keep my flysurfer soul 10m in the air in that wind. Its my most frustrating problem with it - I can get up and riding down to the point where I can't keep the kite in the air.

Pretty much - death or glory from a hydrofoiling session.

Directly waterstarting in front of swimmers with HF board ? One would get more than stink eyes where I live

This is the only designated launch spot, there are designated swim zones that the kiters are not allowed to enter.

hey Hawaiis if you can ride with that old and heavy Ozone Edge and that old school foil from 7 years ago in 4/5 knots I can't imagine what you can do with a light kite and a big modern foil from 2021.
:D

Thanks, That was 2014, when the kite was new.
The same kite can’t go out in 8 knots winds today. Really don’t want to spend $3000 on a new kite.
wind 4-5 knots
kite 2014 Ozone Edge 19M
rider 145 lbs
hydrofoil Rush Randle aluminum foil board with custom front wing.

I was thinking that the easiest way to test the light wind ability of a kite would be to wait for a day with absolutely zero wind and on a large open sandy beach stand on the back of a truck going a constant 5mph (4knots) and see if the kite will fly? At that speed you could have people jogging with the kite with the lines taught for launch. I wouldnt be at all surprised if some kite companies have not done this already when testing the low end of their kites. Would certainly be a great promotion for a kite if it flew and finally settle the questions about kites flying in low wind. To test if there was also no wind at 20m you could put a wind meter on a long pole.

That is really a great idea. It has been done in other circumstances to test hangglider for example: the wind speed reading is totally accurate, and can be set at will
