You got it right! It's about segmenting the market to maximize both share and profit.
Duotone have been working on this strategy since few years and are now launching it full on, both in kites and boards.
We know well that there are plenty of people in this sport (as in any other) who would pay the premium as long as the claims behind the novel materials, technology and performance are well supported and do not make them look stupid for paying that premium.
I find this strategy positive for the sport long term.
But do we a confirmation if there will be a regular Rebel? It disappeared from the webpage.
Nope, only SLS
Haha where did you get that from?

I had a look at a file named 'Launching Dates DTK 2022' a couple of months ago. There was only a Rebel SLS there with a launch date 13.10. If they have updated it, let us know.

These new Duotone SLS kites weigh about the same as regular Ozone kites. The SLS kites don't have pulleys either*, and anyone remember the Duotone cartoon showing off the advantage of 5 lines kites effectively slagging off 4 line kites?
What a load of Duotone marketing bollocks, you couldn't make it up.
* Correct me if I am wrong no probs.

As afar as I know the rebel and neo sls still have pulleys. Only the dice and evo sls don’t have have them as do the Dacron versions.
You can still fly the duotone kites with a fifth line but it isn’t loaded. I know some of the die hard rebel fans didn’t like the change to four lines.
This was in the dice thread. It doesn’t show a rebel non sls version this year. Sls seems to really kick in in higher wind and no surprise the rebel is only sls, the leading edge and struts are significantly stiffer.

Question size: is 11m sls the same as a 12m regular? I see many people going for 10 or 12.. construction is the same?
Question heli hoop: can you heli hoop landing with rebel 12m? Easy?
Currently with a old 12m vector cabrinha 2013, 130pound/60kg, twintip. Kite in Florida 13-20knots most of time. I was going for a Evo sls, but i told myself i would always regret not to get a rebel. Can get only one kite. I mostly freeride and do basic small jumps old style (or no style at all).
Tks for your advises.

Q1: No. A 12m = 12m. The design of the normal vs SLS has changed slightly to accommodate the new SLS material in the leading edge and struts. It essentially made the frame stiffer and slightly lighter.
Q2: Yes. Very easy. I've done multiple helis in the same jump on a 12m. If you watch Toby, he regularly loops his 18m Rebel.
For your use case and suspected skill level, the Evo is better suited. It's more forgiving during crashes and overall easier to use. The Rebel is easier to boost and provides a little extra low end for bigger riders (90kg+). Unless you want to get into Airstyle and need that extra .7s of hangtime, get the Evo. It will make you a better kiter.

I do? Heli loops? Or kiteloops for surface tricks?

I guess it depends on your definition of heli-loops or downloops. Basically, a landing loop to give you more airtime.
