Small kite 3-4m2 that does not deform under load

Postby drone » Mon Oct 18, 2021 7:06 am

Hi. I'm looking for a small kite 3-4m2, for foiling, that does not deform under load.
I`m heavy guy(100+kg/220+lbs) and when i'm waterstart, my current kite deforms heavily. Someday it will explode and i dont like long swims in 20+knot wind.
Any sugestions, ideas?

Foil kite maybe? I thought Kitech now did a 4m kite alongside the 6m? There is another chinese manufacturer of foil kites if you want a cheap option too.

Cabrinha Radar 3,5.

Foil kite are not the best option for waves for me. One crash and no relaunch. Makes thing only worse when shit happens.

I'm not sure if foil kites are idea for super high winds, but what do you mean with "one crash and no relaunch"? Small foil kites that I have, concept air wave 4.5 (and firefly 4.0 but that's not really a high-wind kite imo), practically bounce off the water surface.

if your "load" is coming from waves breaking on the kite... maybe, 1st order is to simply keep the kite out the water(no new kite needed)
i mean...does ANY kite relaunch well from waves?
(hint: your kite is a kite..not a submarine.. it does not belong in the water)

as far as your original question.. check out BRM's clouds and slingshot's UFO.
i exclusively rode clouds until discovering foil kites.. (the UFO is just a cloud clone.. but it flys well and is easier to buy)
both are excellent freeride kites... not sure either would be be the 1st choice for a surf kite

we all have our own risk tolerances with kiting...
but the best small kite for foiling waves as like 1000 page thread on this forums (a peak4)
however, if you can't help yourself from putting a kite in the water.. then yes, you would get REALLY good at self water rescues..
:D

Get a thicker LE diameter kite. I am waiting a new 2022 Neo 4m2 delivery soon and the smaller sizes of Neos I have don’t have thin LE andhold their shape very well in the loops and when dragging me up from deep water where you can get a lot of pull from the kite which can lead to distortion at the kite.

I only know as much as I've seen on the french forums. A few prototype discussions and more recently this:

I think you would need to send a message directly.
