Google it - the correct generic term is "ram air kite". But actually they should be called "flying sleeping bags".

Maybe you should google again because today´s correct generic term is "foil kite" which is derived from "parafoil". No one calls them "Ram air kites" anymore except you, F-One, Mackiteboarding and kiters that are over 60 by now.

In recent years in popular usage, the term "foil" has been used to describe all ram air kites, but technically it's not correct.
