I believe this is what the French call boolgy looping. Useful when looping up a mountain slope as it minimises the line twists whilst allowing tension to be maintained. Sometimes I spin the bar before or during a kiteloop waterstart so you ride out with out twisted lines. Harmless fun imho!

Also a useful technique for bars with a throw greater than arms length, instead of having to pull in centre line to retrieve the bar when letting it spin against the trim strap.

Going up mountains, possibly long downwinders but not wave riding.

Pre-spinning bar before a downloop and untwisting out? Maybe the kite pulls a little harder out of the turn if the lines are untwisted at that point, as the wings aren't pulled together?

I'll sometimes put a twist in the lines with a downloop, then immediately untwist with a downloop in the other direction when foiling downwind, but I can't remember if it makes any discernable difference.
