Does anyone have experience with the Alulla roams in smaller sizes. I was thinking of getting a 6/9 combo to hopefully cover just about all wind for me. I’m 72 kg and pretty much always on a foil.
I have seen some people posting here on this forum that own 10+6.
The 10-6 gap is certainly doable if you have some experience in riding both little and a lot of power.
I have a craveHL for the 6m (and a 10 A roam) and I don’t necessarily need a kite in between.
I weight about 75kg and I can ride the the 10m from a little over 8 knots (preferably 10+) up to 20 ish knots if needed.
The 6m is nice from about 14-15 knots and up to high twenties.
I did get an 8m but it’s a luxury rather then a requirement. I am riding on an often gusty lake so it’s a bit harder to properly size the kite without being partially under or over powered.

I have lots of experience with smaller A-Roams, the majority on-foil, free-riding & wind-swell carving. Before owning A-Roams, I was foiling with smaller BRM Clouds, for their excellent downwind drift and instant transition from powered forward flying to downwind drifting. The smaller A-Roams have a lot more wind range than the BRM Clouds, easier to control, particularly at the wind picks up or gets gusty, steering response is stellar, even when fully de-powered, faster & easier water relaunch, equal downwind drift, and almost as quick a transition from powered-forward flight to drifting ( just need to sheet out a little farther ).

Because I could, I have all sizes 10 down to 4m. Planned to figure out the perfect quiver and sell the rest, but still haven't decided what's perfect quiver, 'cause they're all awesome. Could easily survive with 5 & 10m, or maybe I'll settle on 4, 6, & 9m.

But take everything here with a healthy dose of skepticism - try before you buy if at all possible, 'cause everyone's different and kite preference is a very personal thing.

Just had my first foiling session with a 7m roam Aluula. So much fun. Wind was 12 to 18knts. My smallest foiling kite was the 10m roam. I don’t know why I didn’t get one sooner.

Thanks, what is the difference in low end between 9 and 10? Ocean rodeo claims a pretty huge difference between the two (9 vs 6 knots), which sounds a bit odd to me. Everyone seems to love the 10, but that has always been a rarely used size for me in the past that I’m hesitant to build a quiver around it. I tried doing big gaps in kite sizes in the past and ended up not liking it.

At 72 kg, I'd expect you'll be fine on a 9m in light wind, as it's a question of how big a pop do you need to water-start your foil. You can always turbo-boost the 9m with a set of line extension, or maybe a bigger front wing on your foil.

IMO the A-Roam is an apparent-wind kite, it can generate a ton of power by moving it around quickly in the window. Lots of 10m owners because that was the first size of A-Roam that was available. There was quite a delay after the 10m was released before smaller sizes were out.

The gold stuff is an UV protection layer.
At about 15:25 along Richard Myerscough, founder of Ocean Rodeo, states the gold layer on the current 82 gsm Aluula is a UV protection layer : https://kitesurf365.com/whats-new-from- ... 03YPbO0oCg

Richard also mentions the gold layer's UV protection role in his Kitesurfer Mag 2022 AWSI interview at about 8:50 in : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBW2urG6xOc&t=132s

New session today with 12 roam in about 7-10 knots with small 550 cm2 hydrofoil.

So easy ... With possible kiteloops-backloops in 9 knots...
For waterstart power in light (22m lines) , it is more efficient to work the kite down and up (engaged and a bit backward, like drawig a "8" in the sky , rather than loops. Low power in loops ( which allows to try any rime of kiteloops, jumping or not and what ever the wind force, without fear.).

But relaunch is poor compared to its ability to fly in low wind. Shame. You need 8-9 knots i would say.

If/when kite is nose down, did you try pulling a steering and opposite front line ?

Yeah found the same with relaunch of 12m rise in light wind.
But reverse launches like no other. Give that a try.
